The Plough is probably the largest hotel in Footscray - it's quite big and has a big beer garden, too. They make good food-medium-priced menu, and also gourmet pizzas, which I haven't tried but which have a wonderful reputation. I go there sometimes because they have a poetry reading with an open mic on Tuesday. The Plough has been very good to accommodate the poetry reading, however it is in a conference room which is a bit plain and dull. This is typical of the support they give the local community - they have helped out a number of community causes, they feed meetings cheaply, and the owners are good people. The staff are friendly and accommodating. It's always been a bit quiet when I have been there, but this may be just because it was on Tuesday nights. This venue is very well-respected in Footscray.
