The Queens rarely disappoints and is a good place to go have a drink with friends. I find the staff to always be quite nice. I agree with Truly that Cajun Chicken Salad is really good, but ordering food while busy on a Friday or Saturday night expect it to look like it was thrown on the plate.

The Queens is a never fail pub with great food and they always have a great crowd. A good mix of all ages and make sure if you are grabbing a bite to eat try the Cajun Chicken Salad with a $5 beer they normally have on offer.

The Queens is great for a drink on Friday after work, or a quiet midday pint on Sunday after a big Saturday night. The food is also excellent, and the outside area is one of the nicest I have seen in Perth pubs.

THERE was a point during our hapless lunch at the Queens when we began to see the lighter side of the rapidly growing litany of disasters.

Each calamity was being documented for this review on a serviette – with space running out: “Two broken chairs; 40-minute wait before we get asked if we want a drink; helping ourselves to the bottle of St Hallet Grenache Shiraz on the bar, which was obviously there waiting to be delivered to our table; lipstick marks on the two glasses; most of the wine gone before we get the rubbery squid – deep-fried in very old oil; dirty dishes lingering on the table for half an hour; hand-cut chips – brilliant.” The list finishes with the final insult: “No toilet paper in the loo.” And hidden among the rantings are two little hand-drawn sad faces, there to illustrate the unfortunate diners at the table next to us. These people had come to the hotel in good faith, to celebrate completing the City to Surf. There was little joy on their glum faces as they waited – like us – for their meals to arrive. One and a half hours went by without a word from any staff member. Our wait was about ...
