We went here for a couple of drinks for a work christmas party. We had our own room so we could freely chat & move around with only ppl we knew. Once the bar tab ran out the drinks were really expensive but the million dollar views of sydney this hotel has are just amazing. Easy to get to location, friendly staff. Would be an amazing location for NYE

A great spot for a Saturday afternoon drink, The Royal is located in one of the best spots in Sydneys east the heart of Paddingtons fiveways. It has a great historic pub feel about it, but with enough modern amenities (read: flat screens) to make it popular with a young crowd.

In the bar, they only really serve burgers (for $8 last time I was there bargain), which are good, but yeah, probably only $8 good. I havent eaten in the restaurant thats on the first floor before but friends who have dined there have said its good.

If its a nice day, I highly recommend you head up to the rooftop of the Royal it has one of the best views in the East, looking out over the rows of Paddington terraces as far as the city and Rushcutters Bay. Its one of my favourite spots for a drink.

A Paddington establishment. This pub has numerous levels. The ground floor is your typical pub-style bar with boys watching sport, drinking beer and a few mixed groups gathered around small tables on stools drinking. The next floor is a sleek restaurant. I have not eaten here but it is quite fine-dining for a pub with a restaurant menu & prices.

Next level up is the funky, laid-back elephant bar. A great place to organise an event with friends with couches to sit on and separate areas for different sized groups. The bar staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. I have been here for numerous birthdays and functions and have never failed to have a great time. If youre lucky, the bar staff will even let the party host plug in their ipod for the night.

The most exciting floor of this awesome pub, is the roof-top. With an incredible view over Paddington, the city and the harbour. Truly magical in the afternoon sun or at night with the sparkling city lights luminating the sky. A great pub, in a great location.

Absolutely love this pub. It has a great ambiance.

It really caters for all walks of life. There is the old fashioned, yet warm and welcoming front bar where you can go and relax. It is complete with pokies (the pokies are cordoned off so not to disturb other guests) and several televisions. There is a TAB in the corner so you can punt the day away if you wish. Beers are priced as standard and the service is friendly. The bar menu is not extensive but it's really all you need. They make mean chicken and beef burgers and the lentil burger for those that aren't meat eaters is scrumptious. The yogurt dressing goes superbly with the pattie - making sure it isn't too dry. The only downside of the burgers is that they do not come with chips - however if you are watching your waistline (and lets face it, who isn't?), the chipless plate isn't such a bad thing. The burgers are cheap too - less than $10 a pop.

Go up one level and you will find a nice restaurant. It is priced according to paddington prices but the food is generally worth it. A friend of mine had the fish of the specials menu once though - the portion was teeny tiny - not acceptable for $32.

If you venture up another level - you will find yourself in the Elephant Bar. This bar is cordoned off into a few different areas and is great for private functions. The view from up here is stunning - you can see most of paddington, the CBD and the harbour. This level is much cosier than the front bar... with nice music playing. Perfect for date night!

The fourth level is the rooftop. Smallish but great views and perfect for a balmy night.

Calling all Poms in need of a good sunday raost....The Royal Hotel in Paddington is the best in Sydney! Get in there early though, we've been been pipped to the post many an unhappy Sunday evening! Great service and always a friendly face behind the bar. Great!

Nice corner pub, that is a great spot to grab a drink. Nothing about it really stands out too much.

One of my favorite pubs in paddington! Spanning over 3 levels there's something for everyone. Relaxed but busy downstairs bar, top tucker upstairs and the elephant bar upstairs. As the night progresses you tend to make you're way up through each level with a nightcap in the top bar.

A really massive pub at the corner of the five ways in paddington. I like some of their lounges up on the uppper levels.

A Paddington institution at the 5 ways. A great pub over three levels, the bottom floor can get noisy at times but is a good night out.

This pub gets really packed, so try and get a seat upstairs. The food is lovely too.
