    Positioned along a busy strip of restaurants on bustling Jetty Rd is The Strand, a modern, lively caf? restaurant. The front patio with its slate floor and outdoor tables oozes with good vibes. Beyond big glass doors is the main dining room, brimming with casual cafe chic.

    Soft lounges with newspapers for coffee drinkers are near the doors, while the interior is polished floorboards, wood tables, background music, pale lime and cream colours. A bar dominates one wall flowing through to the wood pizza oven area, with a selection of desserts under glass to get the taste buds tingling - cheesecake, chocolate creations, gateaux and more. The Strand attracts a good mix of people from families and groups to couples, and enough upbeat staff buzzing around to ensure good table service. The largely Italian-inspired menu runs to dishes such as kangaroo loin, Moroccan curry and local fish, salt and pepper squid, with an emphasis on wood-fired pizzas, risottos and unusual pastas such as small pasta caps with crab meat, chilli, vodka, cream and tomato sauce. There?s minimum fuss and a cheerful air of people who genuinely enjoy their work.
