I recently visited The Tea Room for a girl's catch up and we chose the 2 hour sitting. The Tea Room was lovely. Our table was slightly cramped as there were 6 of us but I fault not the staff for that as we, of course, all wanted to sit together. We had the afternoon High Tea which comprised of 3 tiers of egg and tuna sandwiches, petite cakes, scones and lovely pastries. The only downfall is that the package only comes with 1 drink - 3 of my friends ordered coffees and were advised that they would be charged for any further drinks and 3 of us chose tea of which were advised that we could have extra water in our pot but any further tea would be charged extra (I would have thought the package would include unlimited tea/coffee but I guess not). The staff were friendly and attentive and didn't try to shove you out once you were finished and continued to fill up our water glasses while were chatting. Overall it was a lovely experience and a great way to catch up with the girls.

I love coming here for a special treat. My most recent visit was for a friend's birthday and we stayed for around three hours. The service and the food are always good (though the company's other tea rooms at Gunners Barracks are much better in both aspects than at QVB). We had the afternoon tea (at 11am) which was a delicious array of sandwiches (though we didn't get offered more sandwiches as we did last time) and sweet treats. We were lucky enough to be seated on the stylish lounge chairs and had attentive waitstaff who then let us drink tea and talk after most of the other patrons came and left! It is more convenient than Gunners Barracks, so for a city treat that makes you feel a little like a queen, this is my choice.

  • The Tea Room QVB

    Ultimate Sydney

    Sunday, August 02, 2009

Take a load off from shopping and take tea in Royal Albert china cups in this glorious room with its high ceilings and shimmering chandeliers. The ultimate place for a girls’ gathering – you won’t see too many guys in here and so what? Dress up, sit up straight and enjoy decadence on a three-tiered silver platter.
