Heh... I see I'm not the only one who's been stung by them.
Had them rebuild my engine. Apart from all of the below - no written quotes, prices in waaaay in excess of anything that was discussed, then slapping the GST on top at the end. Just a dodgy way to do business - but yes, apart from all this they are terrible mechanics.
They rebuilt my engine with multiple oil leaks - mainly broken gaskets where not enough care was taken during the build, and on top of this, the engine was built with cylinder 3 having no compression at all.
Whats more every stud they snapped they couldn't be bothered replacing - for the price I paid them to build me my engine, one would expect that the engine was returned in mint condition. Instead, I'm now spending thousands more getting their dodgy work fixed.
The first comment pretty much sums it up. These guys are definitely not trustworthy.
Be wary
-They don't like to provide written quotes
-They think you know absolutely nothing about the car you drive
-There's always something "extra" that you need to pay for
-They wont mention that they are discussing prices to you EXCLUDING GST
-The workmanship is of poor quality
I guarantee that you can find another mechanic who does a better job looking after you, or at least find a mechanic that can do a better job full stop.
If I could give these guys less than half a star I would.
My dealings with them has been somewhat distasteful. Be careful when making the decision to bring work to them as they over-charge for what I'd call poor work.
I was charged for a part brand new and then later found out that they didn't install it properly and now my engine is spewing oil as a result because a rubber o-ring on the new part was pinched and damaged and the other outer gasket was split and not even the right one.
Also, I was bitterly surprised when I went to pay for the work done to find out they were asking for an exorbitant price well above the price we had worked around in any of the conversations we had. Ask them when asking for a quote to INCLUDE GST as that was another concern adding to an already excessive asking price.
I'm not saying don't go there - if you do ask for a quote before ANY work is handed over remembering they know EXACTLY what they are doing and should be able to quote you on the work that needs to be done. If they try and give you the "we cant because we have to pull it apart first" that's more than likely incorrect...OR at least say "Pull it apart then give me a written quote". If they still say no then something dodgy is going on and I'd recommend finding another business that can quote you (trust me, most will) and has more respect for the customers that keep them in business.
