The Winery for me is like a great oasis in the centre of a busy Surry Hills. The two level indoor areas is a experimental, modern Victorian feel atmosphere with rule-bending design twists on its dcor, which then extends to its veranda, covered porch, and spacious outdoor garden with backyard feel.
My last visit to The Winery was on a late afternoon on New Years Day and they had live DJ playing modern lounge-esque music, enhancing the places already cosy ambience.
Some of food offerings are quite uniquely curated and thus priced on a premium. We ordered pork belly salad and it was a great dish with soft meat and watermelon to freshen up the palate. We also ordered their spanner crab pasta which tasted very clean and heart-warming.
With its effortless, busy kitchen look, the food presentation were quite average but it worked well. Both dishes had average serving sizes, which definitely allowed us with room for me.
Despite not being too busy, the food took quite a bit of a wait that day (approximately 30 minutes for one salad dish and one main dish).
The staffs were very friendly and attentive, and kept refilling our water without us requesting and the table was immediately cleaned right after we finished our meal.
