  A popular Seinfeld episode confirmed what many of us believed when one of the characters said: "Soup's not a meal!"

  I tend to feel the same way about salad and often resent paying about $20 or more for a fistful of rabbit food. But it took one visit to Third Avenue to realise that all salads are not created equal. The cajun-spiced chicken tenderloin salad selected by my companion was so filling that she struggled to finish it. It was also incredibly flavoursome. I know because I polished it off and was pleasantly surprised by the way the juicy chicken, creamy avocado, grilled haloumi, sectioned orange and coriander melded in my mouth. It was worth every one of its $18.
