Reviews of Tropicana Cafe

  • One of the larger spots in Coogee. As a local I always got the feeling this place gets most of it's business from the local backpackers which initially made me not so keen to eat here. Unfortunately the two times I did eat here the food was nothing to write home about, although the service and staff were wonderful.
  • The waitstaff are the key to this cafes success, always so friendly. Pretty standard menu but compensate with generous portion sizes. I have always found it too loud to hold a decent conversation indoors so I suggest you find an outside table.
  • The Tropicana Cafe is something of an institution along the Coogee Bay Rd strip. In a city where cafes pop up and disappear with the frequency of whacka moles, this is no mean feat. The place is a microcosm of eastern beaches life. The waitresses, all pretty young things, sashay about in tight lycra and hot pants. The clientelle is comprised largely of NRL types, overseas students, dog walkers and bleary eyed Mums. Although the place is large its near possible to negotiate a pram around and theres no baby change table in its spacious loo. These inconveniences aside, it is quite child friendly. Theres a kids menu with all the classics and they have colouring in paraphenalia behind the counter.
  • This is a great place if you are looking for value for money, the servings are generous, the service is very quick and everything is run very very efficiently here. The breakfasts are nicer than the lunch/dinner menu which I find a little bland unless smothered in parmesan cheese - but thats just me!! I would recommend you try this place for the cool vibe and cheap fast meals.

This place has a good service and a free wireless broadband that is fast. The food's serving size is a little bit large than usual and the price is acceptable but I won't recommend anyone for the food as the taste is very average in my opinion (we ordered carbonara linguine and beef burger and I have had better).
  • Excellent service... Great value for money, you certainly wont go hungry here...portions acceptable for Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner.
Definately a winner and well worth a visit.

not a bad place at all. their menu is pretty stamdard though... but i guess so is the 1 in darlinghurst.
  • pretty good place for brunch, can't really complain. The menu is pretty standard - eggs benny, blts. But good price and quick service so can't really go wrong!
