23/01/2012: I posted negative review for TrueLocal dated 20/01/2012. Without speaking or confirming from me that my claims/complaint is legitimate or not they decided to remove my post. When other people post their negative reviews on other businesses, businesses are not given the opportunity to review the post, but TrueLocal can decide what been posted on their wall is legitimate or not. TrueLocal encourages businesses to reply to directly on TrueLocal website why they didnt do the same thing with their customers. Why my post was declined without my consent, and why I didnt get the reply on their wall post. This clearly shows how TrueLocal operates and it is a biased company.
I have lodged my complaint to Ombudsman this time to take this issue further. This time I am keeping the records how you will deal with my complaint. I would like my business to be delisted ASAP from TrueLocal.

I write to express how disillusioned I am at the manner in which true local conducts itself in the operation of its online presence. Firstly the lack of any written authorization requirement by participating businesses in the truelocal site makes managing/controlling your business listing/delisting on their website impossible. The inability to contact the business operators by phone compounds this issue. There are no checks and balances on the review element of the site. Specifically in respect of complaints there is no sufficient vetting process to filter legitimate from libellous content. Whilst Truelocal refer to customers listing reviews and complaints to verify content they do not similarly refer to businesses to obtain relevant information relating to any such complaints. Truelocal relies entirely on building its business database in order to generate its own business activity. Surely it owes those businesses it lists the opportunity to one on one contact with the promoters of the site so as to working in partnership to maximize the potential benefit of listing for customers and businesses. Most importantly any business must have the right to list or delist at any time from the site. The lack of this option is extraordinary in this day and age. As both a customer and a business I believe Truelocal due to the way it conducts itself online or to be unable to continue as a website in its current format.

I'm not happy with truelocal at all. I recently discovered that a carpet cleaning company who I have had a bad experience with before hired them again because they are now trading under a new name! I found out because I came on here to complain about the service of this supposed different company and found out it was the same people! Truelocal emailed me to tell me they had deleted my comment but left their review up! They also edited my review of the company ( under the new name) way too much. They removed some things completely for no good reason! This is the worst review site, try womo instead.

Dissapointed that if a not so positive review is posted about a company and that company complains true local removes the review and ask you to provide more information for your arrgument againist the business. I thougt reviews are just that reviews? I get the impression that if its not a POSTIVE review pumping up the business then the business has the right to refuse it staying on. I have never seen this with other review sites the true is the ture and or the impression of the customer or whats the point of sharing reviews. Lets hope that true local dont delate this message as its negative feedback. Also when I tried calling to speak to someone to complain there is no phone number to call they just give you email addys to contact.

As a Customer of Truelocal...... I wish I wasn't....... I'm now trying to have our listing removed from their site....... I'm being told I can't...... becarefull advertising your business here...... anyone can post against your business, including ex employees, or other companies which may un happy with your success....... be careful........

  Hi, We had the same issue. I removed all the text, the phone numbers and our address and put up a false phone number. If you choose to suppress your address then they will not show your business in their search results. This was our only resolve. It is seriously bad.

  Yes but that is what REVIEWS are for hoenst feed bacl some times customer are not happy why shouldnt they provide HONEST feed back if thats what there doing. We never complain about the positive feed back but once some one complains or has some constructive critism were not happy. Cant have it both ways! but to be honest I had a negative review about a company they complained and true local took it off??? what a waste of time Im pretty sure your safe as they will take negative reivews off if you request it even thought the CUSTOMER wanted to provide honest feedback on the experience.

Yes I have found True Local a very good site to use. Reasons being, prompt in getting a review added, simple and easy to use, quite fast in the operation when using. Good information, quite reliable. Also the phone app is very good. As the site each month gets a little more informative, public awareness is getting better. The only down side I can think of, is when you list a new business on the site, if they emailed you and said it was now on the site for review, it would make things a little easier. Also an easier way to locate the new listing if you are not the owner.

I think the True Local website is amazing, I found it a few years ago and love it! I think it's great you can search for businesses in your own area, and can read reviews left by others. I think being able to review gives business a chance to *fix things* if there are any problems, or perhaps give their staff a *well done* when something good has been written. So many people are quick to complain, but slow to offer a compliment and this is where a site like True Local helps. As a regular reviewer, it's fun to see what others think of the places I have visited too. The only problem I have is, that if a business isn't listed and I just want to suggest that *freddys fish barn* should be listed, I have to fill in a form like I *own* the business, so a *suggestion box* type format would be good where people cold leave the name of a business or place they'd like to see on here.... many times I've gone to leave a review only to find they don't have a listing.......

Truelocal is doing a good job.. They balance their decision both positive and negative. I saw reviews that were negative and it helped australians decide whether to use these business or not. People may have something to say about this but still you can't please them all. just do your thing guys! Best of luck!

Very good site to use, a couple of things that would help, first it would be nice to be able to have an alphabetic system to find listings, secondly when adding a business that is not listed, it would be much easier than to go to FAQ"s to find it. Suggest you look at urbanspoon, for their system has bot these functions. But other than that good, no problems

  keep scrolling people these comments in Pink are merely page fillers, True Local really don't want you to hear what actual customers think of their rubish service..... Notice the star rating?, now scroll....Everyone I know that has been involved with Truelocal (or Optus now) have been bitterly dissapointed...... be warned!! and don't waste your hard earned advertising dollars here....
