Beautiful restaurant, the pool is so tempting. The food is to die for. Don't take my word. This is a must do.

I was excited visiting this place. Everything was good.

    So my resume:
    Good service. Cheap prices.

I was recently in Sydney for Fashion Week and with the constant flow of champagne at an event in the Ivy Pool bar, we decided to wander around the beautiful complex to find something to eat. Uccello was definitely the best choice, enabling us to still peer out across the pool bar yet take in the warm surrounds of the gorgeous restaurant.
The food is a tad on the expy side: mains are around $45 each and as they're a little on the smaller side, you're probably going to want to share a side as well - even just to sample! I chose the duck and i can honestly say, I'm still thinking about it now! The parnsip puree which worked in a similar fashion to an aioli was magnificent and the meat itself was cooked to perfection. We ordered a size of pototoes and they too were fantastic - perfectly seasoned and for a side dish, quite ample in portion. The service was second-to-none and I will definitely be returning!!

Uccello at the Ivy is a beautiful restaurant, with beautiful food and drink being served by beautiful people. Oh and the location is pretty cool too you can sip your French champagne whilst you cast your eyes over the A List filled Ivy Pool. Make sure you find the designer jacket and sunnies for this outing otherwise you will be looked up and down in a what are you doing here? kind of way.

The food is very tasty. Small portions and seriously expensive but it is the perfect place for that special occasion or work Christmas party when the boss is paying!

The dcor is stunning and worth just going there for a look, even if you cant afford a meal.

The lifts are a bit of a pain as they are the only way of getting in and out of the restaurant but all in all a fairly enjoyable experience.

I hadnt been back to Uccello for a couple of years but with a new chef I thought it time to revisit. Funnily enough I ended up eating here twice in the same week recently, once for a business lunch and once on a Saturday night and the experience couldnt have been more different let me explain. The business lunch experience is as you would expect. With a table facing out to an empty pool I was surrounded by business brokers and media heavyweights. It was relaxed, the service was efficient and the menu encouraging. I started with the mozzarella and tomato salad which was light and the perfect starter followed by the spice crusted lamb - great flavours. Overall it was a good lunch, nothing amazing but felt consistent in its approach and worthy of a future business lunch.

Upon my revisit to Uccello on the Saturday night the vibe couldnt have been more different. The woman seating us was stunning and beautifully dressed all of a sudden I felt we were in LA and the restaurant was pumping with people dressed as if on the way to a club. I felt sorry for the international couple next to us who seemed liked they wanted a quite night out as they moved out, more of the party set moved in. The menu was pretty much the same menu from earlier in the week but this time was a set menu, three courses for $100. This time around I tried the ravioli of zucchini flowers and parmesan (light and flavoursome) followed by the eye fillet beef with gorgonzola butter (cooked to perfection). The service was efficient and friendly. As we finished our meal I ran into an old work college on the way out you been eating with the cubs? Clearly stumped by her question she explained Cashed Up Bogans..... As I looked around I realised she was right, the place was full of young spending people from the suburbs, hell bent on a good night out. If you want a little bit of LA in Sydney and a place to start your night out then Uccello is your place on Saturday night. If you want something quiet and romantic then Id suggest this isnt the place.

The perfect place to eat delicious carbs whilst overlooking a pool filled with those who have never eaten one and quite possibly cannot spell "carbohydrate". Portion sizes are quite small but that is just a hint that "you don't really need it" - as Sydney as it gets. Big tick.

After trying Mad Cow (also in the Ivy) I was excited to try Uccello. Whilst there are similarities in the decor, which is not a bad thing, thats where it ends. The vibe here is definately different - a little more relaxed, not casual, just more relaxed. The food, delivered by chef Massimo (ex Buon Ricardo in Paddington) is very good (the spinach gnocchi was a hit). The restaurant overlooks the pool (due to open late October 08) and will definately be the place for long Sunday Italian lunches... swimwear or not.

      Very exciting Euro look
A bit too cool for school
Food and service, just good enough (unless they recognise you and you're special)

Where high-flyers roost and the birds wear cocktails and bikinis.

ON paper it just shouldn't work. Outside, at the rooftop oasis that is Pool Club, bright young things in impossibly short dresses drink and flirt. Stevie Wonder's in the air.
