Urban Bites is a modern café in Newtown located on King Street. They are open all day, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their menu offers a wide range of healthy options, vegetarian options and good hearty meals for lunch and dinner, such as fried tofu, pancakes, sandwiches, seafood, risotto, steaks and more. Beverages such and coffees and fresh juices are also available. Urban Bites also caters for functions with comfortable outdoor seating areas.
My friends and I first visited Urban Bites a few months back and were satisfied by their delicious food and their generous serving sizes, which prompted us to revisit this cafe.
We did experience the same delicious, large food like we expected. Our order came quite quickly and I totally loved their blueberry pancakes that were served beautifully and with plenty of nice ingredients (including ice cream!). However there are a few things that happened to grab my attention.
It has been a while since I notice a restaurant with outdoor seating areas that still allow smoking. Perhaps they are still adapting to the new law which will come into full effect on 6 July 2015.
Sitting at the quieter indoor area, I was served dirty cutleries -- both the knife and fork which somehow looked like food residue.
Nevertheless, we are still satisfied with the friendliness of the staffs. And with the selection of beautifully displayed desserts we always never had room for in our stomach, I think we will still be coming back to Urban Bites in the future.
Ussually go here every week for breakfast, use to be really great but it's like they have lost the love or passion for it, the food is poor, half the time undeniable. And the service is just sloppy. Time to find somewhere new for Sunday breakfast,
I found it hard to know what to rate this place...I go here all the time because its comfy, cheap, and delicious but there are a couple of down sides. Fabulous desserts and delicious, very well priced food but the salad (including garnishes) always look really old like they were prepared the day before. Their pastas and wedges and nachos and pressed sandwiches are my favorite. Yum! I don't like the coffee here (but my hubby doesn't mind it). The staff are hit and miss. Sometimes they have great, attentive people and sometimes it feels like the staff just want to chat to each other or their friends.
Waldo I hate to rain on the parade...maybe it is fitting, for today it did not stop raining.
Dropped in for a coffee and thank goodness they sold Mortal Sin cake and Cheery ripe slice. That's one star for Mortal Sin cake, one star for Cherry ripe slice and half a star because aroma of food being prepared was marvelous, though being in King St it could have come from a number of eateries.
Oh yes i dropped in for a coffee, but the coffee just doesn't rate. It could have been warm water in paper cup. Flavour zero, POW zero.
They have fantastic service, fantastic coffee and food. They have a wonderful atmosphere for you to sit and relax and enjoy the food. They even have student menus, which are reasonably priced. Recommended!
Fantastic food - particularly at breakfast, friendly staff, and prices that are amazingly low. At any time of the day or night you'll get a great feed, from Eggs Benedict to the biggest burger you've ever seen. The milkshakes are delicious as well!!
