This cafe/restaurnat is deceptively up market. There are some delicious tapas (frittas, calamari, garlic prawns) on the menu for a snack, or you can enjoy a full meal. I had the pork belly and crab for main - delicious!

The large breezy room with large open windows is also ideal for lounging with coffee.

Great cafe - always busy - great simple food. Can be very noisy though!

Excellent fresh & inventive food. Service always attentive. Highly recommended for a lazy lunch or breakfast. Fantastic coffee!

Beautifully presented food, caring staff and reasonable prices make for an outstanding cafe experience on the popular Napoleon Street. Dine amongst Perth's socialites, locals, visitors and 'Fans of Vans.'

For breakfast, I would recommend the bircher museli with rhubarb, and the lamb and olive burger for a lunch or dinner-time meal.

The wine list is not extensive but includes some local favourites as well as international bestsellers.

A cafe not to be missed.

  • Van's Cafe and Deli

    Saturday, November 28, 2009

It was time to celebrate. My partner was back in town after a two-week European adventure.

Granted, he was away for work, but he still visited the likes of Vienna, Milan, Paris and London while I was here in downtown Perth. Despite my jealousy, I decided to take the weary traveller out for breakfast to honour his homecoming. He was still a little jet-lagged after his 3am arrival so we were off to a bit of a slow start on this particular Saturday. Western way My international jetsetter, happy to eat somewhere close to home, suggested Van’s in Cottesloe. By the time we got there it was nearing noon, but our tummies were telling us we needed breakfast. To our delight, our friendly waitress informed us that Van’s had all-day breakfast options available. Perfect. After scouring the extensive menu I opted for the breakfast bruschetta and a freshly squeezed juice to kick-start my weekend.
