A surfie haven on the St Kilda foreshore
This once empty and rundown pavilion located right on the beach has been saved from demolitian by the owner of the Fairfield Boat House, Zig van der Sluys, and has been beautifully restored to accommodate a surf and kiteboarding store and relaxed cafe. Hearty breakfasts, burgers and fish & chips are some of the food on offer - simple, cooked to order and perfect refueling fodder for the kiteboarders, surfies and beachgoers that are flocking to this haven.

Caught up with some family here on Sunday afternoon. Awesome spot. Family friendly as the beach is right there. Your kids can be running around right in front of you. Literally on the beach with its own private little area away from all the buzz. Choose your chairs and table out on the decking for a casual drink and nibble or you can sit inside for those not wishing to be bathing in the sunlight ( when it is there) . They have a volleyball net set up for any that are keen and dogs of all shapes and sizes were very welcome. Lovely atmosphere, very friendly, welcoming staff. A bucket of 5 coronas was $30 dollars which is a good way to buy for a few. Could smell the pizza on the table next to us and felt bummed that I had such a big lunch....Definitly hanging on now for more of the sunshine seems we have found this gem, but, even without the warm temp, it was still lovely to sit and slouch on our chairs and catch up. Perfect Sunday afternoon.
