Reviews of West Ryde Veterinary Clinic
My rat had an upper respiratory infection which included symptoms such as sneezing, side sucking (sign of severe pain) and his face was blue. The vet here didn't even look at him and said that the rat had a blue face because he was cold. He would ask me questions then completely ignored the answers, only hearing what he wanted to hear...
I simply cannot believe that a vet would blatantly not care for an animals well being like this. I immediatly went to another vet and they gave me a real diagnosis and proper medication.
I'm sorry but being charged $60 to be told my rat was "cold" is unprofessional and this practice should be ashamed of themselves for falsely advertising themselves as veterinarians.
My family have used the veterinary practice for several years and the care and treatment our pets has been second to none .My small dog recently had successful knee surgery and I was most impressed with not only the prompt action to help my good boy but the aftercare which was so willingly offered .I have now moved to the Northern Beaches but still make the trip back to the area as I have such trust and faith in David and the team at West Ryde.Fantastic service!
Unfortunately i can not give this vet a better rating, however had i filled this form out a few years ago it would most likely been a 4-5 star rating. Whenever i take my dog in there to ask questions, get her injections etc. the vet hardly even checks her over, checks her lungs but that is it. Any questions we asked are pretty much ignored, she is now also listed as dangerous there because she growled at the vet (seriously its the vets!). Just a warning to potential clients, DO NOT leave until all of your questions are answered as they charge you the same regardless.
After my 7ft python passed away 2 nights ago, I thought nothing of it (old age perhaps).
But upon handling one of my smaller pythons yesterday, I realised they had mites.
It was 6.30pm on a Wednesday night and I was frantic as I didn't want any more deaths and was struggling to find anywhere that was open and would see my reptiles.
When I called the clinic, the staff were very friendly and told me to come straight down. They checked over my animals and went through step by step, how to bathe aand care for my animals and get them back to health. They didn't charge the earth and made me feel like whatever questions I had were important.
We took our newly adopted dog for her 1st visit to this veterinary clinic as we lived locally. Given it was the dogs 1st full vet check we had a list of questions. The vet was offhand and uninterested, and rushed through to get us out the door as soon as possible. In fact the vet walked out of the room (to go and get vaccinations) twice while I was mid sentence through a question. The dog also had excessive matting and staining under the eyes and the vet was very rough as the vet tugged on the matting with a small comb. Given the dog is 2 yrs old we thought this 1st visit would be the establishment of a trusted long term relationship with a vet clinic where we could take our dog whenever required.
We were very dissapointed and will not be returing to this veterinary Clinic.
Friendly staff but one of the newer vets misdiagnosed by dog on one visit and the same vet did not inform me of the future implications of a certain surgery for my dog but instead told me that she would have no problems afterwards (forgetting to tell me that it would increase the risk of arthritis). I was a bit weary of the vet's diagnosis as they had misdiagnosed my dog once so I went to get a 2nd and 3rd opinion and both of the latter vets were more helpful and provided me with more information and options. If I had to take my dog again I would definitely ask for another veterinarian.
Some of the Veterinarians working here are great. They explain everything in detail and help you decide what is right for your pet. I've been able to call up the vet over the phone for some quick advice too, which is extremely helpful.
Cons - They can get busy sometimes and the front counter staff can become a bit flustered.
