Spectacular views, interesting menu, fairly good service. We went here in a group of 3 for a birthday and a group of 3 turned out to be the perfect number for a seat right on the great curved window, as they have semi-circular tables up against the glass. I had booked ahead, not even sure originally if it would be open on a Tuesday evening, and lucky I did as the place was packed!

We were feeling very hungry and festive so had entrees, mains and dessert. Mistake. None of us could fit the huge desserts in - all the serves are very generous. There was a chocolate something or other for 2 to share which had 2 x 6 separate chocolate desserts in miniature, what an amazing offering and beautifully presented, but we couldn't finish it. Our birthday guest went home very impressed and happy, and we will most certainly be back next time we want to celebrate or show off to a visitor.

This restaurant does have amazing views and comfy chairs, but as far as the food goes I did not think it lived up to its hype. We had booked in advance, yet we were kept waiting 15 minutes beyond our booking time. The food was not that great, and the service wasn't either. For the prices we paid I expected much, much more - both in quality of food and service. The matre d' saw fit to make an off-the-cufff sleazy remark (a joke?) when returning our coats to us at the end of the evening, which didn't exactly enhance the romance factor in our evening! We wont be going again.

We are people who enjoy eating out often during the week. Unfortunately Windy Point was a great disappointment this evening. This was the worst meal we have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. Both the meat and fish mains were overly salty and the passion fruit-lime crepes overly sweet. To add insult we were overcharged without an apology. Absolutely appalling. The staff really need assistance with appropriately focused customer service - a glass of wine or water required a request by having to flag down a waiter. Even the view could not make up for such disappointing service and food. Do not waste your time or money here.

Reliably special. It's a lovely location and men for special occasions and the setting with magnificent views over Adelaide make it a must to take out-of-state visitors. For nights when the budget doesn't count.

THERE ARE rooms with a view and then some, but in Adelaide one name crops up again and again when the outlook is deemed to be equal to and at times even more important than the dining.

Make that the outlook and the occasion, for Belair's Windy Point restaurant occupies a special place both physically and also in the hearts and minds of many Adelaideans.

First, the view, in a nutshell, is mesmerising, especially during daylight-saving as sunset and dinner times coincide. The location has been key in marking generations of SA births, deaths, marriages and plenty in between, such as engagements, anniversaries and all the stepping stones in the human journey.

The venue where this all happens is actually two separate floors, upper and lower, offering different levels of eats and seats. The cafe offers a range of small snack plates from dips up to medium entree plates and then a selection of contemporary char grill, slow braise and roast mains.

Upstairs the higher-end dining venue takes a finer and fuller approach, occupies a sweeping room with a couple of stepped floor levels within, and amps up the comfort levels with plush seating, vertigo-ind...
