    Went here last night with some friends and had the silken tofu with Sichuan pepper salt and chilli, it was AMAZING definitely would recommend! As a vegetarian the "specials" menu was pretty limited, but the tofu was so good that it didn't matter too much. It would be nice to see more vegetarian dishes added, but definitely go here for a delicious night out!

    Somewhat disappointed, had heard Great things about this place and was looking forward to the experience. When we arrived we were at the same table as the only other couple in the empty restaurant. Not wanting to invade the other couple's space we asked to sit elsewhere. After the seating ordeal the service improved, and we were able to enjoy our night. Food was above average, however the seating experience put a dampener on the evening.

    A small and basic but cute eatery in the heart of Surry Hills, Xage offers some really great Vietnamese at decent prices. Most dishes come in well under $20 and it's BYO, so you can usually get away with a cheapish night here. It seems to get more and more popular all the time but the vibe is still pretty low-key and relaxed, and it's a mixed crowd of friends after work, couples and families. No feeling like you have to dress up and be seen which is always a bonus. The top picks on the night we were there would have to be the duck fillet banh xeo summer rolls for entree, silken tofu with Sichuan pepper salt and chilli, and the caramelized slow cooked Berkshire pork shoulder thit kho. This last one was absolutely amazing. The only downside is that they dont take bookings, unless you want to eat really early, so you could be in for a wait, but it's worth it when you try the pork shoulder.

    Xage is a fantastic little Vietnamese place where you can get great food and not pay too much for it. If you are going to go, then I recommend you do it with a group size of group of friends greater than 4. The reason being is then you can choose the banquet menu which will allow you to taste all of the delicious food that is on offer, rather than just select one dish. There are three banquet options, one for $30, one for $35 and one for $40 from which you will get to taste such most of what is on offer and that price includes corkage for a cheap night out. The Banquet starts with Spring Rolls, chicken Skewers and mixed summer rolls. Following that you will get some pork shoulder, some duck fillet and some prawns to name just a few. The staff are very friendly and you will have a great time while there. The place is fairly small and loud so not an option if you want some privacy in which to dine.

    Xage is such a fabulous little restaurant, right in the heart of busy Surry Hills. Despite its size, i think it is a great venue for group bookings because the varieties of banquets cater, not only for varying tastes but varying appetites! However if your booking ahead be wary of numbers because if you turn up short they will make you pay for the missing people!

    That being said, it is very reasonably priced, with BYO costing a meagre $2 per person, and the food itself is very fresh, healthy and most importantly delicious!

    It can be very noisy and sometimes hard to turn up and get a spot, but they turn over tables quite quickly so you will not need to wait very long to be seated.

    If you love Vietnamese this place is great, highly recommend the rice paper rolls and slow cooked pork shoulder, fabulously tasty!

    Two girlfriends and I went here for dinner last Saturday night and were really happy with it. The fact that this place is BYO and very well priced was a massive drawcard for us, as we didnt want to spend too much money on our night out. We took a couple of bottles of wine and settled in quite comfortably. The menu was easy to understand, and the signature dishes are indicated, so you know which ones to pick! The staff were also very attentive and helpful in assisting us in deciding. The only downside of this place is that you can sometimes feel rushed to finish your dinner and move on, so we make a concerted effort to order starters, then order mains about 20 minutes later. The food was all delicious the rice paper rolls were fresh and yummy, as were the mains. We ordered the slow-cooked beef curry with lotus root (which was spicy but definitely bearable and I have a weak tongue), and grilled chicken cashew nut salad, which was my personal fave. All in all, it was a great experience, and Ill definitely be going back again.

    So many people had told me about Xage and how incredible the food was, so after working out how to pronounce it (Sage) I thought I'd give it a go for dinner one Saturday night. I'd been warned it was hard to get a table, and they weren't wrong. A 20 minute wait on a small stool outside the toilets wasn't a great start to the night, but the food most certainly made up for it. They're not kidding when they saying Vietnamese is the new Thai. The flavours are so intense and so fresh, it's a welcome change to Asian cuisine. Would most definitely recommend, but would also strongly recommend booking ahead!

    I'd heard good things and was taken by a friend who had dined at Xage several times but I was a little underwhelmed by the night's end. The service was snappy and the staff were helpful but I possibly wouldn't go out of my way to dine here again. Food was reasonable ...but the vietnamese restaurants in the inner west are generally of better (and cheaper quality). And there's just something about the location...feels like I'm eating in a garage. Having said that, check it out and jusdge for yourself.

    There is a lack of funky Vietnamese restaurants in Sydney so the arrival of this restaurant is such a welcome change. The food is value for money, well portioned and very tasty. I tried the barramundi marinated in turmeric and spices. It was incredible! The rice paper rolls are also one of the best I've tasted. The staff are very attentive and helpful. I'll definitely come back and try their other dishes.

    With the current $10 main meal deal this is pretty good value and the food is quite nice. I really liked the summer rolls and prawn salad but the curries weren't so great -- and very small, it will be interesting to see if the sizes change when the price goes up. I agree with the reviewer below, they should just leave the water jug on the table, it's not fine dining. Definitely worth giving a go while the prices are low!
