I also bought a scoopon for high tea as a gift for my mother and mother in law. They do not normally complain but they also experienced very small serves, thumb nail size they reported and only a few serves each. I was so embarrassed that I had bought this for them. I spoke to the staff and they said this is the standard size and if I wanted to talk to the management I should call back in 2 months!

I brought two Scoopons to enable my wife and her best friend to have high tea in the orchid garden tea room attached to this restaurant. Both ladies are quite elderly and so not have large appetites.
Whilst what I purchased and what they had was described as High Tea they were obliged to go there at 12.00 noon which is more lunch time than High Tea time.
The ambience was OK but the high tea definitely disappointing there being very little of it-- this was evidenced by them stopping off at a bakery on the way home to buy something to eat with their afternoon tea at home at 3.30 pm. Normally after my wife has been out she doesnt have dinner let alone afternoon tea.
I guess the message is maybe you get what you pay for although I have to say previous Scoopon meals we have had have all been fine. Needless to say she wont be repeating the 35 km round trip to get to this out of the way place.
The waitresses were very nice and tried hard but the lack of food was just too much.

Came here on the weekend for High Tea in The Orchid Garden Tea Room located in a separate little room inside the Yangtze Chinese Restaurant. The Tea Room takes you to a totally different place from when you first walk into the restaurant - it's like a little dollhouse room. The High Tea itself was fairly average, the twist on it being an Asian fusion was different, but pity i don't eat prawn or duck (which was on the menu for our sitting). The sweets were nice though, but nothing stood out too much. It was a lovely experience though, my friends and I came out from the northern suburbs to give this place a try, as i like my high teas. It was a nice day out and drive for us, but I don't think I'd come all the way back just to have high tea again, was lovely experiencing it though :)

The prices are very reasonable. The staff are very attentive. They always ask you if your meal is OK, and if you would like any more drinks. The staff are polite as well. There was one minor mistake made by one of the staff, but that is OK and it was quickly rectified. We didn't have to wait very long for the meal (maybe about 20 minutes), but the staff still apologized to us for the wait. Everything was delivered hot and tasted fine. The restaurant was about half full at the time. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
