Great little Japanese restaurant in Surry Hills. I often come here for dinner with my sister as she lives near by and is a bit of a picky eater!!! Really extensive menu with plenty of options, very quick service too. Negatives: quite squishy seating areas if youre downstairs, and its quite difficult trying to find a park anywhere close by! Overall, very good value for money considering the amazing quality of the product. Very friendly staff too. I will undoubtedly be back!
  • One of my favourite Sydney restaurants. Always great service, always AMAZING food. My friends and I go all the time and eat our weight in Japanese food. Good atmosphere as well! Always recommend to people!

FANTASTIC!! The contemporary Japanese ambience will entice you from the minute you walk through the door. Funky music, mood lighting, an open kitchen where you can watch your delicacies be made in front of your eyes and two levels of seating. We recently dined here for dinner and the service could not have been any better. Very warm and friendly, attentive but not smothering service and great knowledge as to what to recommend from the menu. Fantastic selection of fresh sashimi and inside out sushi rolls, beautifully cooked beef ribs, teriyaki chicken, soft shell crab and chicken karaage, accompanied with a selection of white or brown rice and miso soup. The servings are a little smaller but more than enough to leave satisfied. The restaurant is very popular so best to book a table On advance. Having recently found our favourite japanese restaurant had closed down, my expectations were set very high and I can happily say everything about Zushi was above expectations. Very reasonable prices, fantastic service and definitely top of the list :)
  • The food quality is solid
But the service lets this Restarant down
On both my visits I have had to ask for service and ask for further items
Last Saturday evening they forgot our last 2 items and made it seem like our fault
I will not be going back and will activity speak about the poor leave of service
    • Hi Matt
I'm really saddened by your experience and would like to make it up to you...Are you able to send me your email address?
I am the General Manager at Zushi and was not present this Saturday you were mentioning.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Love zushi especially the $15 salmon teriyaki box for lunch however the serving size seems to have shrunk in size recently.

Went here for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the teriyaki salmon, it was fresh, well cooked and the side dishes like seaweed, and pickled vegetables went down a treat.

I quite like the causal dinning and there's a outdoor area (not covered) should the weather be decent. We were greeted and seated by a lovely waitress, who made sure our dining experience was more than enjoyable.

    I'll definitely be going back

Like Eatstreets, I only ever go to the Darlinghurst Zushi but given I have just moved to Surry Hills thought I would give this one a try. The Darlinghurst Zushi is definitely more laid back but I guess being so closed to the Winery people are going to make this a night out rather than a relaxed local meal. The service was okay but it was missing the warmth of Darlo but it is really nice to sit outside if you can get a table. The menu is also the same but has changed to be more of shared menu which is a bit of a general downer. Anyway I will still visit this Zushi but if I get time will head to darlo.

As a frequent visitor to the Darlinghurst Zushi, I was very excited when I heard there was another branch of this excellent Japanese restaurant opening in Surry Hills. Upon entering, I was very impressed with the fit-out, which is all dark wood and dim lighting. Theres an upstairs area that looks out over the restaurant, but we opted to sit outside as it was a nice afternoon. The food was delicious, as weve come to expect from Zushi. We mainly ordered sashimi and hand rolls, which were all excellent. The soft-shell crab roll and the dynamite rolls are my particular favourite. Unfortunately this new Zushi isnt BYO, which can cause the bill to get up there pretty quickly. We were having a great night until the waiter came over and asked us to move on so they could give the table away, which I always find to be a bit of a dampener on what was otherwise a great night.

Zushi Darlinghurst is an old favourite of mine so when they opened their Surry Hills branch I was very excited to test it out. The two restaurants have many similarities including the same friendly, professional service, the menu and the amazing food. The obvious differences are that the new Zushi is quite a bit bigger than its old Darlo mate, with upstairs and downstairs dining options. It is also a bit fancier inside and is fully licensed (unlike its BYO brother). As it is a Monday night, my friend and I order a glass of Pinot Gris and our old faithful dishes to share. Edemame, deluxe sashimi, tuna tataki, seaweed salad & cabbage-carrot salad. The presentation & quality of the dishes is perfect & on par with the Darlo Zushi. We are very happy with our meal & the entire experience. The bill is what we had expected (about $50 each). A top Sydney Japanese dining experience.
