I enjoy being out and about, nature and taking as many holidays as possible. I love shopping and grabbing a good bargain, sipping a good latte and generally being on the move. I love having the opportunity to review all my favourite businesses and the few not so nice, and hope that my reviews are useful to other people.

For a designer Westfields this sure has to be one of the best around. Having watched the construction for many months I was in awe to finally see the finished product and its beautiful doors open in 2010. The architectural design is modern and world class with open plan layout spanning over 6 levels of shopping and dining greatness. I find it does get more boutique as you climb higher up the levels but even if you can't afford it gosh it is wonderful to window shop ;)
I love the laidback and modern layout of the Level 5 food court or what is called "The Food Atrium" offering a wide selection of quick takeaways such as Guzman y Gomez, Charlie & Co Burgers or Thai Riffic. The food court also doubles as a great spot to catchup with friends for a lunch date with ample seating and plenty of cuisine to choose from. For a more formal sit down meal there are plenty of restaurants to choose from that offer some pretty competitive lunch deals if you are interested in a glass of wine or beer. You also have your Max Brennar on Level 6 if a coffee and cake is more your idea of a catch up.
Then we get to the shopping which is just amazing. David Jones occupies a large selection in its traditional position and then you are spoilt for a choice with a massive selection of specialty stores such as Cue, Veronika Maine, Guess (this store spans over 2 levels), Swarovski, Priceline Pharmacy, JB Hi-Fi - I could go on and on but you can only really appreciate this centre by seeing it for yourself.
Operated by the well known chain, Wilson Parking hubby and I regularly park here if we are off to see a movie at Events or dining at one of the fine restaurants within the Town Hall vicinity. If you were to park there just on a whim, the prices are really steep and in line with City prices but we have always taken advantage of the weekend special at $15. Rarely do you find parking that cheap anywhere in the City. For the daily commuter there is also the early bird parking special which works out pretty good for all day parking. Even further discounts if you book ahead and online.
I am always one to research the best price and find them one of the best for such a central location.
My style has always been one to incorporate timeless classics and statement pieces and I truly believe Review nails this each and every season. The summer range is light and fun and really showcases everything girlie. The Winter range is just beautiful and always makes me think of the stylings of Jackie O.
They offer a nice selection of styles, colours and sizes to suit all body shapes and I find the designs seem to always compliment your figure and ooze elegance. The cardigans are so soft and are a treat to wear really. The store layout itself is so elegant.
As you will find will all designer brands though the prices are towards the higher end of the scale but well worth it when one considers them an investment piece. Highly recommend.
I have been shopping at Tree of Life for ages particularly as my mum loves the cultural essence of the clothing, homewares and that they support fair trading practices when dealing with developed countries. The colours and smells will leave you enticed as you wander through the store taking it all in. The fashion is very Bohemian and definitely not for everyone but even the most classic style could easily team a beautiful scarf from here.
Childhood experiences have left me with a slight fear of going to the dentist but from my first consultation at Sydney Laser I felt very comfortable and confident that I had not entered a torture chamber. (I know that is exaggerating just a bit but my pain threshold is low ok). The team were so friendly and reassuring and I left with a beautiful dentist clean and a healthy report that all was ok in the mouth world.
Great location within the Atrium (not suggesting you run in and grab a coke from Coles straight from the dentist, but your choice). Very reasonable with pricing and offering a variety of cosmetic and general dentistry services. Open until 6pm weekdays which is handy for the City worker
It was only on a whim that I decided to take a walk around Miami and check out the local shops and hubs. This place is just so fitting for the area with the beachfront a short walk away and who doesn't need a new bikini ;) It is a discount warehouse so you may think that all they offer is tacky designs that no one wants or irregular sizes but it really isn't the case. They stock a huge range of sizes and styles to suit all body types and the staff were friendly enough. I'm not one that likes to spend a small fortune on cozzies so definitely appreciated the discounted prices.
Not your largest outlet around but still stocks a decent selection of white and red wines, sweet classics, beer by the 6 pack or case and plenty of spirits and premixers. The range is not as widespread as your warehouse stocked liquor stores which may explain the slightly higher prices and the limited storewide specials. The store itself is a little cramped and can be quite chaotic on a Saturday night but the service is efficient and the transition in and out quite smooth. It is good that they take FlyBuys so you feel rewarded even after you shop.
Small little drive-thru BWS but stocks more than enough beer, wines, spirits and basic nibblies to cater for your bbq or after work drinks. I have always particular liked the drive-thru option as they offer straight to your car service if you know what you want or you can park undercover and pop out for a quick browse. There is no real wait time and you are in and out and back on your way in no time. Good service, good prices and easy to get to location straight off Gold Coast Hwy
This was my first trip to Coles Miami, as it is my family's local, and I have to say that I found the staff very friendly and cheery and I did not experience the problems others have with the poor packing of bags and slow service. The store itself is nicely planned out and you can navigate between the aisles with ease. Well stocked shelves, plenty of great weekly discounts which, maybe it is just me, seemed that slightly bit better than the Coles down the road. Self service checkouts or aisle service - the choice is yours.
I particularly was impressed with the customer service we received at the seafood bar. Their mussels are always fresh and the staff are so friendly and more than happy to order them in for you if you need a bulk lot (yes, I do). Great service and I would continue to come here even if just for the mussels.
What I particularly liked about this little Stockland is it is not as chaotic as the larger shopping centres within the area and is a great little place for the locals to duck in and out and grab last minute lunchbox items or something for dinner. Despite its size it does offer a number of large chain stores such as a full sized Woolworths (very good prices I must say), a Big W (hallelujah), Bakers Delight, EB Games, local butcher and a nice selection of speciality clothes and beauty stores.
The dcor is modern, large and does not feel overfilled. My only gripe was with the parking situation which I realise has been a complaint amongst a few other reviewers here. The spaces are tight and there is little undercover parking which thankfully it is sunny QLD as this could cause a lot of problems on rainy days.
Although located a little further out than the main strip, it is well worth the short trek inland to check out this place. Within the complex itself you are not limited to just a butcher but there is also a takeaway shop and sushi store onsite if you are feeling a little peckish (and since it is socially unacceptable to knaw on raw steaks).
The wide selection of fresh meats supplied daily from 6am is fantastic and the prices quite reasonable in comparison to the large food chains. What I always like about local butchers is that the service is always aimed at pleasing the customer rather than treating you like a number and you definitely feel like a valid customer from the moment you walk in and are welcomed with a hello or can we help you. They don't make you feel uncomfortable looking around by hovering behind you but are close by if you do have a request. Any type of meat can be cut to order - just ask.
You can order bulk packs for larger families, better value or that special event. I had to laugh as I was sunburnt when I last when in (yes, poor decisions on my part) and the lady offered me one of their jackets to walk into the cool room as she was concerned. Just lovely :)
Catching up with a friend recently we decided on the Coffee Club as our choice of venue for lunch. They were not overly busy which was great because we weren't waiting for a seat or very long for our meals. I decided to go with the Roast Beetroot, Feta and Candied Walnut Salad and my friend went with the Lemon Pepper Calamari and Chips (I won't lie, I stole some of her chips haha). The food was delicious and you could easily tell that both meals were made from fresh ingredients. I had asked could the dressing be put on the side and there was no issue with this (sadly this has been an issue at other lunch spots).
Very friendly service, good food and a nice selection of coffees and cakes to end the meal over a good ole chat. Happy to recommend.
I had to see what all the fuss was with Bourke Street Bakery with a number of friends recommending both the Surry Hills and Neutral Bay stores. I am hooked. From the warm ambience of freshly baked bread to the sweetly aroma of gourmet cakes and tarts, trust me you won't leave without a purchase. Surry Hills is their flagship store but with stores at Potts Point, Alexandria, Marrickville and now North Sydney; it seems these renowned baker chefs are clearly on to something good.
You will be overwhelmed with choice from the wide selection of cakes, tarts, flavoursome sourdough breads and loaves, pastries and much, much more. Everything is cooked from scratch with fresh ingredients daily and well worth the extra $$. I had planned a quick dash to purchase a raspberry and pear butter cake (highly recommended by same friend) for a family event but instead ended up leaving with said raspberry and pear butter cake, a chocolate tart for myself (hehe) and a could not stop myself, I had to also have the Pancetta & Cream Cheese Sourdough Loaf - amazing!
The service is amazing and handles the crowds very well. Sorry, I think I forgot to mention before, this venue is popular and does get very busy on Saturdays so if you have the time and ability to go during the week then go then. The prices are a little towards the higher end of the scale for baked goods but honestly well worth the treat.
We contacted Able Doors to repair our damaged garage door and despite the insistence that it was an emergency it took hours for them to get a technician out and when did finally arrive it couldn't repaired on the spot. 2 weeks later we finally get the door fixed - thanks very much! They are expensive and the people working on the telephone system are just simply rude and spend more time putting you on hold than answering your enquiries. Terrible service and no sense of urgency whatsoever. Wouldn't recommend!
Previous experiences with Silver Service have been good when collecting from from a taxi rank but be warned there telephone ordering service is TERRIBLE! I recently ordered a taxi to take us to the airport. Our flight was just in peak hour and I wanted to be safe than sorry. The frustration of the computer operator was almost too much bear given I had to give my address multiple times and for reasons unknown it could not understand a simple request - pickup at 4pm (it kept insisting I meant the next day). I finally was transferred through to an operator who I seemed had got all the information correct but when the time came we waited and no taxi arrived at 4pm. No SMS to advise taxi was on its way so I called again to enquire and the operator just seemed confused and advised taxi was on its way. Long story short, thankfully we decided to just hail any cab because I received the text message the next day at 4pm that my taxi was on its way. Um ok! Lucky I didn't wait around for these guys or I would not have been reading that text sipping my cocktail. Veery disappointed.
Even with the no lock-in contracts and amazing discounts that Foxtel seem to offer the reality is, it just isn't that great. Everything is repeated on such a ridiculous scale over a month timeframe, you actually have to pay for the ads as opposed to free to air tv and dealing with their customer service team - what a headache! As a building manager I frequently grant access to Foxtel technicians to activate tenants' Foxtel and have been surprised at how rude or plain inexperienced they seem to be. Wouldn't recommend unless your reception for free to air is really bad
A quick stopover to try and find a game for my little nephew turned into one long mission involving a number of shopping centres within the Gold Coast vicinity. As all their counterparts this EB stocks a wide selection of games for a number of gaming platforms including PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, PC and more. Not just games but also gaming manuals, accessories and trading cards. The service is friendly enough but I was a little annoyed that they do not honour their own online prices instore and that there seems to be a lot of defective games floating around their stores (hence my mission to every Gold Coast EB Games).
Many people associate Sussan with the more mature lady but I beg to differ having purchased multiple pyjamas over the years that are extremely comfortable and good quality. The prices are fairly reasonable and even better during sale time :)
I regular buy tops and accessories as gifts for family members and always find the staff to be very helpful in suggesting ideas for certain age groups, etc. Nice selection of scarves for the avid cruiser, on-trend colours and designs suited to many different shapes and sizes.
A work friend recently recommended Pumpkin Patch to shop for the arrival of a special little girl and I was pleasantly surprised to find not only Pumpkin Patch but its connection store - Baby Patch. Stocked full of gorgeous little outfits, cuddle blankets and gift assortments you are sure to find something.
Another pleasant surprise seems to be that not many people know of its location because there were few people in the store allowing ample time to thoroughly look around without the crowds and easy access to available staff who were friendly and very helpful.
Good location, great prices and a nice selection of items for mum and bub.
What I really like about the clothes in Jay Jays is that although they look quite casual they can be teamed with a nice blazer and a pair of heels and whoa-la you have a rocking outfit for your big night out at a fraction of the price.
Great range of tops, shirts, shorts, jeans and much more for ladies and gents, regular and irregular sizes which is great for everyone. Great beachwear including some awesome bikini designs and boat shorts and even better when they have a sale where items are reduced to $10 or under. They also stock a wide selection of retro styles on-trend at that current moment for those into that sort of style.
Friendly customer service, good location for a quick trip at lunchtime and overall pretty reasonable prices. Sign up for their newsletter and get a 10% off voucher (who doesn't love a discount).
