Tiaraaaaa Local Star

I enjoy being out and about, nature and taking as many holidays as possible. I love shopping and grabbing a good bargain, sipping a good latte and generally being on the move. I love having the opportunity to review all my favourite businesses and the few not so nice, and hope that my reviews are useful to other people.

  • Hi-Speed Internet Kiosks

    Cafes Broadbeach, QLD
High Speed - Absolute garbage. In my opinion this service is not even worthy of half a star. Innocently I set out to print two pages from my email thinking this should be simple enough, pop my coins in and off I go. If only it really was that simple. No problems with the kiosk taking my money but then I endured half an hour of what seemed like virus infested pages hacking my email. None of the Microsoft applications that were meant to be on the computer worked and all required registration. I tried three different internet browsers; one crashed the whole computer and the other two ran like the old dial up internet. Waiting, waiting, waiting - my time is ticking and money are ticking down watching a blank page load and I couldn't even log out of my email let alone print the two pages I was after. To make matters worse, of course there is no 24 hour customer service so you can't even call anyone to fix it remotely. Total waste of time and money and no, I did not get my two pages printed in the end. Arghhhhh frustration +
  • Wax Museum

    Museums Surfers Paradise, QLD
Although the Wax Museum is showing signs of aging times it is still one of those attractions that you tell yourself you need to do at least once. The admission fee is a little pricey, particularly for a family but cannot fault the enthusiasm and friendly service from all the staff. Unlike the modern wax museum all these exhibits are behind glass so unfortunately you cannot get up close and the glass plays havoc with capturing good photos with the celebs. The House of Horrors guided tour is well, interesting. I would say it needs updating to keep the admission prices where they are but worth checking out if holidaying on the Coast.
  • BWS

    Bottle Shops Broadbeach, QLD
Classic range of beers, wines and spirits and gift items with a good price range from a cheap drop for a casual bbq to a higher end range for that special occasion. I particularly love the regular weekly specials at BWS especially the multi buy discounts on their wines. Friendly service, good prices, convenient location (although parking can be a pain) and convenient trading hours.
  • IGA Sorrento

    Restaurants Sorrento, QLD
I thought straight off the highway this quiet IGA would be the perfect stop to pick up a few items after work but I found it to be quite disappointing. There is only limited parking with tight spaces with everyone rushing in and out. Once you do finally park and get to IGA the product range is not that desirable with overpriced items, a lot of the fresh food stored in rows of fridges so you can barely see what you are trying to buy, particularly the day I went the fridges were all iced up. Unfortunately not a supermarket I would recommend.
  • McDonald's

    Takeaways Broadbeach, QLD
Although a smaller service store, the customer service offered has been spot on each time I have bought from here, friendly and efficient for takeaway orders. They have stepped up with the times to offer an order yourself facility during busy periods and now you can even create your own burger. With all my orders freshly prepared and hot on arrival I have no complaints with their breakfast service.

Convenient location for locals and holidaymakers staying within the Broadbeach resort precinct and for parents the charity Carousel and play area is located right across from it to keep the little ones entertained.
  • 7 Eleven

    Convenience Stores Broadbeach, QLD
What I love about this store is no matter what time I drop in, usually very early morning, the staff are always friendly and welcome you with a good morning and a smile which in my opinion reflects customer service as its best. Although a little smaller than other stores, this in no way impacts the product quality and variety offered. A well stocked coffee machine offers a decent coffee or hot chocolate at a good price, a slurpee machine to satisfy those Summer cravings, a wide variety of confectionery and snacks, hot food bar, drinks, cigarettes, emergency phone accessories and much more.

Great location in the heart of Broadbeach with very convenient trading hours, friendly service and great product range. Highly recommend.
  • The Oasis

    Shopping Centres Broadbeach, QLD
The Oasis shopping precinct is a convenient shopping precinct right by the beach offering a bit of everything. With a full sized Woolworths, butcher, Baker's Delight, specialty stores including Terry White Chemist, Amcal, Australia Post and QBD, plenty of cafes and restaurants and for the kiddies a carousel and outdoor play area which will keep the entertained for hours and instill a little nostalgia in the big kids ;) At night the outdoor fountains and sculptures are illuminated with beautiful neons which makes for a beautiful setting when dining at one of the outdoor restaurants on a warm night.

The centre itself is showing its age and could do with a bit of a revamp to keep up with the changing surroundings, but the facilities are well maintained and offer convenience plus for Broadbeach locals.
  • Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre

    Shopping Centres Drummoyne, NSW
I have find memories of visiting Birkenhead Point as a child particularly the magnificent Lego World exhibitions but oh how it has changed. The centre is much more modern and trendy which in a way has given it the revamp it needed but sadly the outlet prices have moved more towards high end boutique sales. Nice variety of stores and eateries and well worth a day out for the experience.
  • Harbour Town Noodle Inn

    Takeaways West Perth, WA
Just like the shopping the food at Noodle Inn is consistently great. I have stopped by a number of times and each time my Pad Thai has been perfect. Affordable, tasty and great location.
  • Harbour Town Outlet Shopping Centre

    Shopping Centres Biggera Waters, QLD
To sum it up Harbour Town is fabulous. The centre is designed for outdoor shopping all on one level where you can stop and dine or grab a coffee at one f the many cafes and watch the crowds go by or browse at the numerous outlet stores such as Royal Doulton, Swarovski, Nike and much much more.

If holidaying on the Coast you can book a tour that takes you out to centre and returns you comfortably to your accommodation with minimal fuss or keep it simple and take public transport. Definitely tops the list for the perfect outlet
  • Telstra Store Harbour Town

Mobile Phones Retailers Biggera Waters, QLD
I recently popped into Telstra to make some enquiries about my account and possible upgrade options and found the staff very friendly and informative clearly explaining my contract options without the unnecessary telco jargon. Fresh modern decor and organised staff.
  • Liquorland

    Bottle Shops Surfers Paradise, QLD
The larger of the Liquorland stores in Surfers with a central location to all majority of accommodation and workplaces. The open plan layout with clear signage and uncluttered shelves allows for easy navigation to exactly what you are after. A cool room with a variety of beers, plenty of chilled white wines and champers, reds and spirits organised on the shelves. A part of the Coles Myer franchise, despite the tourist location, they frequently have specials and accept fly buys. Friendly service, convenient location and good range.
  • Cellarbrations

    Bottle Shops Surfers Paradise, QLD
Friendly personable service. Great range of wine selections in a variety of price ranges depending the occasion. Convenient location and pleasant shopping experience just as you expect from the Cellarbrations brand
  • Cellarbrations

    Bottle Shops Surfers Paradise, QLD
Although the prices are not always as cheap as larger chains I do appreciate he personable service you often receive at Cellarbrations. Great wine selection including a nice range of vintage range which make a nice gift for the connoisseur.
  • The Noodle House

    Restaurants Surfers Paradise, QLD
Whenever I can I recommend the Noodle House to all my friends. Although a small eatery the food is amazing in such a great a location. The service is consistently friendly and impeccably quick. The duck and the satay chicken fabulous.
  • Chemcoast Pharmacy Surfers Paradise

Cosmetics & Beauty Retailers Surfers Paradise, QLD
Chemcoast is conveniently located in Centro Surfers towards the beach end. As well as your standard medications and pharmaceuticals due to its beachy location they also stock a good range of sunglasses including cancer council, buckets and spades for the kiddies, beach towels and things and plenty of gift sets and trinkets although expect to pay tourist prices
  • Domino's Pizza

    Takeaways Surfers Paradise, QLD
Dominos on Cavill is unique in that offers the convenience of a quick takeaway order or the option to dine in within their modern establishment of trendy seating perfect for a casual lunch or date night.
  • Chickery Chick

    Takeaways Surfers Paradise, QLD
Look no further as this is offers all the old school charm of takeaways that once were. Perfectly cooked charcoal chickens and chips with plenty of fast food aides to choose from at affordable prices. More of a morning person, tuck into a big breakfast for less than $10. Friendly personable service and for locals or holiday makers within the Broadbeach/surfers area you can order online and get home delivery which is perfect for a lazy night in. For first time customers the online booking facility offers a discount of 10% off your first order and regular discounts for repeat customers. Well worth a visit
  • 7 Eleven

    Convenience Stores Runaway Bay, QLD
Similar to many 7 Eleven service stations popping up around the Coast offering quality Mobil fuel including 98 and special unleaded (e10) and the bonus of a 7 Eleven store with all the conveniences of magazines, food, snacks, phone credit, cigarettes and ATM. Weekly deals including a number of 2 for 1 specials perfect for road trips.
  • Coles Supermarkets

Supermarket & Grocery Stores Broadbeach Waters, QLD
One of the best Coles I have shopped at. The store is neat and uncluttered and a fantastic deli selection. The seafood selection and fresh cuts are consistently fresh as is the service. Affordable weekly specials and easy to get to once you navigate the renovation detours. The consistency alone encourages repeat visits.
