I am never disappointed by the menu or the coffee here. I know if I am looking for a satisfying lunch that I will get it here. My only grievance is that sometimes it can be slow. The menu changes based on seasonality which is also something that I really enjoy

These guys have to be the friendliest furniture store in the area. I walked in here specifically to look at a TV cabinet and the sales person was so helpful that she emailed me all the pricing, brochures and dimensions. Also I talked through a space problem I was having and she was more than happy to receive a layout diagram and give me some advice on the best way to furnish the space. While I am still short listing, I will probably put an order in with these guys purely for the service I was given. Its really rare these days in retail to get great customer service and while I know I could probably get the same product elsewhere cheaper, I am happy to spend the differential to support these guys. You have to support local businesses with great service as there are only a few around these days.

Meringue Souffl with Rhubarb. Wow. That is all I need to say, I have never enjoyed a dessert so much.

  • Beautiful hotel. But had high tea there and the food was disappointing. Very well presented buffet but the sandwiches, pastries, quiches, scones and croissants were all very dry. Not what you would expect. The cakes were lovely however.
    • I had a high tea function there last weekend and thought it was lovely. The scones were perfect and there were some delicious cakes. We sat in the lobby and I was really happy when they bought out french champagne. This was a nice touch. The service was a little slow but everything else was great. They also kept topping things up and it seemed like there was an endless supply of scones, sandwiches and blinis.
  • We decided on the the $30 per head option, really good if you're not to sure what you want. I enjoyed every dish, but the fav's were the pan fried Haloumi cheese with the sweetest figs, and the other was the lamb! If you haven't tried the Greek cuisine you must try this place.
    • Agree, the halloumi and fig combo was delicious. Also really great value for $30 per head.
  • Situated in a pole position beside the moored boats at Rose Bay, Catalina is stunning, both the food and the experience. The McMahon family have occupied this little piece of heaven for the last 16 years. Catalina is an upscale cafeteria. The staff at Catalina are a delight to deal with.

They do everything from sushi and sashimi to Italian and French contemporary inspired dishes, such as the roasted suckling pig with quince aioli and the twice cooked crisp skin baby chicken with soy aioli, cucumber, shallot and chilli salad. The honeycomb desert (honeycomb parfait with chocolate brownie and caramel) is to die for.

The restaurant is very spacious and the panoramic views are breathtaking. The sea planes landing majestically as you devour your divine cuisine is all part of the Catalina charm.
I live in Rose Bay so the fact that its my local is very handy! Not a cheap outing, but its most certainly worth it.
    • Totally agree with Kate about Catalina. Its also a great function space. i have been to a few functions here and they have been spectacular.
