I'm not a huge fan of Koorong. However, now that they have wiped out the small competitors, there is no option but to shop here. The Penrith store is a lot smaller than the West Ryde one, and hence has a more limited variety of stock. The store is located in a little complex offering 3 hours free parking, and with Koorong's in store cafe, you might just be there with a good book and a coffee!
Definitely worth the trip out to the 'Riff! The Bonds Clearance Outlet has some awesome bargains on womens, mens and kids apparel, ranging from uber cool toddler hoodies, to undies in all shapes and sizes. With their 30 day returns policy I was able to pick stuff up for the hubby and check that he liked them. No? Great, coz you can return things to their Homebush store. A must visit!
After reading all the reviews, I decided I just had to try the banh mi thit (Vietnamese rolls) from Jamison Bakery when I was in the area. Not only are the serving sizes extremely generous (I could hardly finish half of my roll!), the flavours are super authentic. Five bucks will give you a chicken roll and a bottle of water. Prepare to wait though, because come lunchtime, you'll be queueing up for a good 5-10 minutes. The only two downers for me were that the bread rolls weren't as crusty and fresh as most other places and the staff behind the counter has a sour-face through the entire serving process - I laughed when I heard another customer saying the same thing! What I do love though, is that since the bakery is tucked away in a little arcade there are aluminium school-yard style tables you can pause at to enjoy flavours! Who said Penrith had nothing to offer??
