Use Qantas Points to stay insured when you travel

As a Qantas Business Rewards member, there are dozens of ways you can accumulate Qantas Points in your company’s account. These points can then be easily transferred to any Qantas Frequent Flyer account of your choice – a business owner, employee or even family member – and be redeemed for a diverse range of products and services, including Qantas Assure travel insurance policies.

As a small business, it’s vital to have the correct insurance policies in place to look after the wellbeing of the business’ partners and staff. Qantas Assure is an insurance membership that offers a range of policies for health, life, income protection and travel insurance. It’s also the only insurance membership offering a wellness program that rewards you for being active, so for things like walking, cycling to work or running marathons.

Depending on the policy you choose, Qantas Assure travel insurance can cover you for loss of valuables as well as trip cancellation, medical expenses, baggage delay and more.

There’s a range of different Qantas Assure travel insurance policies available, with various options to suit the type of travel you have in mind. If you’re travelling domestically, there are Australian Comprehensive, Australian Cancellation and Baggage and Australian Cancellation, Baggage and Rental Vehicle Excess options. For overseas travel there’s International Comprehensive, New Zealand Cancellation and Baggage and Pacific Islands Cancellation and Baggage options – there’s also an Annual Multi Trip policy that covers you for unlimited travel both domestically and overseas.

Using Qantas Points to purchase travel insurance with Qantas Assure

You can use points accumulated in your Qantas Business Rewards account to purchase travel insurance policies for yourself, staff and even family members through Qantas Assure.

Simply transfer points from your Qantas Business Rewards account to the Frequent Flyer account of the person travelling. When booking the Qantas flight online, select the option to purchase travel insurance using Qantas Points. If you do decide to purchase Qantas Assure travel insurance after you’ve booked your flight, you can do so using your credit card.

Travel Insurance policies are underwritten by QBE Insurance (Australia) Limited. Qantas is an authorised representative of QBE Insurance (Australia) Limited. When using Points Plus Pay, Qantas Points will be immediately deducted from your Qantas Frequent Flyer account. If an Eligible Qantas Assure Product is cancelled during the 30 day cooling off period, the Qantas Points redeemed for that product will be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account and the amount paid for the product will be refunded to your Accepted Payment Card, or Direct Debit Account. If an Eligible Qantas Assure Product is downgraded or cancelled after the 30 day cooling off period, a pro-rata refund of Qantas Points and money paid will be made for any remaining period after the date of downgrade or cancellation.

A business must be a Qantas Business Rewards Member to earn Qantas Points for the business. A one-off join fee of $89.50 applies. Fees are inclusive of any applicable GST and may be varied by Qantas from time to time, without notice, in its absolute discretion. Qantas Points are offered under the applicable partner’s terms and conditions and earning thresholds may apply. Membership of Qantas Business Rewards and the earning of Qantas Points as a business are subject to the Qantas Business Rewards Terms and Conditions.

In order to transfer Qantas Points from a Qantas Business Rewards account to an individual’s Qantas Frequent Flyer account, the business account must have a balance of at least 3,000 Qantas Points. You must be a Qantas Frequent Flyer member to earn and redeem Qantas Points. A joining fee may apply.
