The Aviary Dessert Kitchen

Norwood

The Aviary is one of Adelaide’s most highly rated dessert bars, and with good reason. From the cosy fireplace to the stained glass windows, it’s a lovely place to escape the chill and indulge in something sweet. Especially if you get the Berry Mille Crepe Cake! That’s multiple layers of handmade crepes with vanilla crème patisserie, berry jam and berry ice cream. Yes, please.

Red Cacao

Sterling

The famous “Chocolatier of the Adelaide Hills”, Red Cacao is an award-winning cafe/dessert bar that is definitely worth a visit. It’s friendly, cosy and the food is absolutely delicious. There’s so much to choose from, but if you love a cuppa, skip your usual skim cap and try the Affogato. This treat is comprised of vanilla bean ice cream with warm liquid chocolate, and comes complete with a shot of coffee for that extra kick.

Spats Cafe

Hyde Park

Spats Cafe is a dark, enticing venue with a kind of elegant Victorian feel, and serves up all sorts of sweet and savoury treats long into the night. It’s open until midnight on weekdays and 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, so it’s perfect for a late-night sugar hit. We’d highly recommend the brandy snaps. Served with strawberries, cream and ice-cream, it’s a classic combination taken to the next level.

“Best desserts in Adelaide! Spats has a great atmosphere, friendly service and you never wait too long for orders. Whether it’s just you and your partner, or a group of friends enjoying the night, this is the place to go! I would recommend that you book before you head there as it’s pretty packed especially on weekend nights. And believe me when I say they are good! I’m a hard one to please! :)” – EllezWorld

Eggless

Goodwood

Eggless Dessert Cafe has set out to prove that you don’t need eggs to have a good time, and it’s doing a stellar job thus far (take that, eggs). It’s a real favourite among locals, and with their amazing menu of decadent desserts it’s not hard to see why. But if you want convincing, just get yourself a big bowl of the Molten Chocolate Pudding. Gooey and rich and wonderful, this is one meal that’s sure to warm your heart.

“AWESOME!!! had an amazing time bringing the kids in last time, they loved everything – and it was secretly better because I got to have a bite from each dessert on the menu, and didn’t have to feel guilty about eating a whole dessert! you guys are beautiful, and I’m so lucky to be able to come in and have great service when I do.” – TheMiddleIngredient

Koko Black

Adelaide

We’ll finish up with a true icon of Australian chocolatiering. Koko Black has delighted us all with its chocolate delights for the best part of two decades, and the Rundle Mall store is a lovely place to grab something quick and delicious. The signature hot chocolate is always heaven in a mug, and the new Chocolate & Salted Caramel Tart is a slice of joy in our great wintery world. As is everything here, honestly.

“I was given a chocolate slab as a thank you gift from a customer and it was awesome! I really enjoy Koko Black chocolate and a slab like what I had was major indulgent! I felt really spoilt being given that.” – xbabydollx
