It’s cold, it’s wet, it’s dark – so you’d be forgiven for thinking winter isn’t a very romantic time of year. But you’d be wrong! Winter can be just as great as summer when it comes to dating – just take your special someone to one of these awesome date spots around Adelaide.
If you’re looking to escape the grim weather and spend an afternoon inside, the Art Gallery of South Australia is the perfect place to do so. General entry is free (who doesn’t love a cheap date?) and there’s always plenty of unique exhibitions to check out. Plus you can thoroughly impress your partner by pretending you know stuff about art. Grab a bite and something to drink in the restaurant afterwards and discuss the finer points.

Girls love a guy who can make them laugh. Or, you know, at least take them somewhere where other people will make them laugh. Enter Rhino Room, one of Adelaide’s leading comedy clubs. Duck inside, grab a drink, and prepare to giggle at an ever-changing line-up of local, national and international stand-up stars. There’s even an open mic night if you’re feeling particularly brave.
“Brilliant venue. Very intimate. Ticket prices are extremely reasonable for the show that you get. Bar facilities available. Friendly staff. Close to Rundle Street so you can grab a meal before the show. Can’t wait to get back there again.” – 4chillis
Drinks by the fireplace
Snuggling up by the fireside is what winter is all about, and The Kings Head is quite possibly the cosiest place in town to do just that. The roaring fire is lit all day, every day throughout the colder months, so grab your sweetheart, pull up a seat, and crack open a bottle of wine. For bonus points, why not share a gooey fig pudding with vanilla ice cream and butterscotch syrup? That would melt our hearts, for sure!

“I was given a gift card for a course at Sticky Rice Cooking School as a gift and attended a class earlier this year. The experience was great, the staff were friendly and informative. The Chef had everybody involved, we were not just watching. The Chef had come from Sydney which made the experience that bit special. The time went so quick, it is a cooking school that I would attend again.” – On / Off Electrical
We don’t know about you, but we find that the best kind of dates are the ones where you have an excuse to touch each other a lot. Therefore, a salsa class seems like a great idea! Salsa Connection offers casual, highly enjoyable lessons for all ability levels, so don’t worry if you’ve got two left feet. The teachers are awesome, and we promise it’ll be a blast. If nothing else, all that exercise is sure to warm you up when it’s cold out…
“Had an awesome time with these guys. They have learnt from people from all over the world and it shows. The best in Adelaide, I have to say (having watched a lot at Salsa shows). And it is quite nice to see that someone in Adelaide doesn’t just treat you like a number in their business. They really want to teach people to dance, raise the standard of Salsa in Adelaide and have fun doing it!” – Matt_007
