The Great Moscow Circus

Date: 6-25 April
Location: Majura Rd, beside Canberra Airport, Majura Park

Roll up! Roll up! It’s the 50th anniversary of the world-famous circus troupe all the way from Russia! They’re pulling out all stops under the Grand Big Top for a massive 80-city tour of Australia over the next three years, and Canberra is lucky enough to be host to this legendary circus this April. Come along and experience a brand new two-hour production of high-energy entertainment including high-flying trapeze artists, a motorcycle cage, clowns and acrobats that’ll keep you on the edge of your seats! Australian Running Festival

Date: 9-10 April
Location: West Lawn, Parkes Place West, Parkes

There’s no time like the present to get fit, and what better motivation is there than joining thousands of runners from all over the country in the iconic Australian Running Festival? Whether you’re a gym junkie or just looking for a fun and fit day out with the friends and family, there’s a range of events to suit every level. Enter as an individual or as part of a team in the 5km, 10km, Half Marathon or the Canberra Ultra Marathon, all of which will have you racing past the capital’s iconic sights. And what’s better, it’s all in the name of charity, with an aim to raise over $250,000 for over 250 charities! Find out more


Jane Austen Festival

Date: 15-17 April
Location: Albert Hall, Canberra

It’s time to get a little bit fancy this April, so put on your frilliest frocks and toppiest top-hats and head on over to the Jane Austen Festival. Set in the historic Albert Hall, travel back in time with Austen and Napoleonic fans from around the country for a weekend of Regency-themed dancing, music, games, fencing, croquet, theatre, food, workshops and talks. Brush up on your dance skills and touch up your costumes in the day time to prepare for the grand balls held every night, each with its own unique theme. Groovin the Moo

Date: 24 April
Location: University of Canberra

It’s one of Australia’s biggest and best regional music festivals, and it’s back in Canberra this year with over 27 artists packed into a full day of awesome music. Catch Aussie favourites including The Rubens, Alison Wonderland and Boy & Bear, as well as international stars including Danny Brown and Twenty One Pilots. And this year, the festival will be opened up by Canberra’s very own up-and-coming hip hop heroines, Coda Conduct. You go girls! Find out more
