Here at True Local, we put the “
straya” in Australia. Check out these top spots to grab a feed this Australia Day.

The Original Food Company

Mount Barker

It’s true, you know. There were literally no food companies in existence before these guys came along. They don’t get nearly enough historical credit if you ask us. Anyway, The Original Food Company specialises in sumptuous, award-winning pies and lamingtons. We can’t think of anything more Australian – can you? Find out more

Delicious beef steak

Red Ochre Grill

North Adelaide

Red Ochre Grill is proud to present… emu, crocodile and pavlova! Holy clapsticks! That’s enough Aussieness to knock the hairs off a wombat’s nose, and it’s just a tiny taster of the delectable menu on offer at this beautiful waterfront restaurant. Find out more

“Our entrees of pork rillettes and ceviche were delicious as were our mains of lamb and steak. We ordered a salad off the specials – fig, candied walnut, radicchio, emu prosciutto and blue cheese dressing – it was sensational (the emu prosciutto was amazing). However, there was a distinct lack of candied walnuts on the plate. We were too full for dessert but they looked great. I think we will be returning in the future.” – Kelly T

Earl of Leicester Hotel

As well as boasting Adelaide’s finest schnitty, The Earl of Leicester is also known for its exclusive ‘Beer Legends Club’. If you can work your way through all 150 beers they serve, you can join the few (the happy few) who’ve already done so, and be remembered as a true Australian hero forever.  Find out more

“One of my favourite pubs. Home of the best schnitzel menu in Australia. Big beer selection. Good atmosphere. Staff are on the ball. Order a large “Bulls Bollocks” and pick a beer off the menu that you haven’t seen before.” – ToughButFair

The Rolling Pin Bakery & Patisserie

It’s a well-known fact that everyone needs an enormous influx of pie on Australia Day. What’s more, you should never settle for anything less than the finest in quality piemanship on this most special of occasions. That’s why you should turn to The Rolling Pin Bakery in Magill for all your pie-based and sausage roll-y goodness. After all, it won the award for Australia’s best pie you know. Find out more

This cute bakery offers a delicious menu of crusty, flaky, buttery, pastry pies with classic and modern creative flavors, I wish I could have tried the whole range! You will have to try them for yourself! Best artisan coffee I’ve ever had! Cute and somewhat “kitch” teaspoons and decor, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the experience.
Very yummy cakes, unique blend of classic European and modern Aussie, I can wholly recommend the “Belgian chocolate & Hazelnut mousse tart”. – Shazzam!
