Have you been wondering where to head for a drink in Brisbane this summer? Your options are varied, to say the least. That’s why we’ve scoured the city to bring you five establishments that really have this whole ‘fresh summer vibes’ thing nailed down. Bottoms up!
We’ll begin upstairs at the Fox Hotel, where Dandys Rooftop Bar awaits. This eclectically bright and colourful joint is the scene of many good times, and offers a glorious night-time view of the Brisbane skyline. Order up a tangy Literati, tuck into a gorgeous gourmet pizza (can’t go wrong with the prawny ‘Gamberi’), and marvel at all the fascinating wooden things stuck to the ceiling.
“I have actually been very impressed with the food at the restaurant and the bar is a fun place to hang with friends. I particularly like the open air upstairs area where you have nice views of southbank area.” – Kat2525
Ahh, Limes Hotel. Even the name sounds refreshing, which is just what you need in this baking heat. This place is famous for its rooftop bar/cinema combo, which also features a pair of plunge pools just for good measure. You might be asking why on earth you’d want to watch a film in the noisy atmosphere of a bar, but it’s awesome once you get there. Plus, they do frosé!
“Great staff, very friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere was fantastic, I will be visiting again soon.” – Graeme Hunter
Just as the name suggests, Riverbar & Kitchen sits right on the beautiful riverbank, and offers great food, a huge drinks menu and sweeping vistas of the waterfront. Not to mention fairy lights, picnic tables and rather hefty cocktail jugs. It’s pure summer heaven, and we predict many a visit here in your near future!

Plushy lounge seating is the order of the day at this rooftop bar, and plenty of it, too! The open-air design (complete with retractable roof) is perfect for a balmy evening drink as you gaze out over the city, fully content with where life has taken you thus far. The food is all sharing platters, ranging from kingfish tacos to succulent salt and pepper lamb ribs, so round up your mates and head on Up!
“Great spot on a Sunday afternoon for a few drinks with some friends. Love the rooftop intimate vibes.” – rugan
Hey, what can we say? Constance is just a good street for bars. This particular beauty is open, easy-going and based in a grand old Queenslander, so it doesn’t have to try hard to bring the charm. You should definitely check out the beer garden, but the White Lightning Tiki Bar upstairs is an irresistible force around this time of year. Cocktails are better in bowls, after all!
“Interesting Queenslander styled cafe/restaurant/club, the food is good, the cocktails are better!” – Candyce
