Artie & Mai

340 Sandgate Rd

If it’s bacon you’re after this summer, then it’s bacon you’re going to get, because at Artie & Mai’s, bacon and brunch are everything. There’s something on this menu for every kind of bacon lover, from the Banana French Toast with candied bacon ice cream, to the bacon and egg roll with fiesty chilli jam.

The venue itself is as quirky as the menu, with exposed brick and funky, mismatched tiles, while the booze selection makes it a fab place to linger long after brunch is over.

Best dessert venue of 2017:

La Casamia

Rosalie Mews, 21 Nash St

Fresh, authentic French desserts is the what makes this gorgeous venue a winner for 2017, plus the vibrant coloured treats make them a crowdpleaser in summer too! The artistic patisseries are handmade daily, with the head chef spending years honing his craft in French pastry prior to La Casamia.

While the Crème Brulee and Baked Alaska make this the ideal winter dessert venue, you’ll find plenty of people queuing throughout summer for menu items like their Sweet Bouquet; French crema cheese and currants wrapped in fresh filo pastry, with a crispy tuille, some tasty vanilla ice-cream, and chocolate hazelnut crumble.

Best frosé hotspot of 2017:

Darling & Co

157 Given Terrace

The sweet, slushy goodness of frosé is all you could want this summer, and lucky for you we’ve narrowed down the #1 spot for it. Darling & Co is a trendy, laidback venue, with the best damn lobster roll you’d ever tried.

But we’re not here to talk lobster rolls (although the Sunday lobster + frosé deal for $16 ain’t bad); it’s the Miss Play Frosé that steals the show here. Made with rosé, strawberries, and just a hint of rosewater, it’s the stuff frosé dreams are made of. Get in before the secret gets out!
