Salads might not get the best rap, but there’s all sorts of things you can do if you just think beyond the boring old realm of lettuce and cucumber. Just check out these spots for a few ideas!
Part cafe, part trendy organic market, Sourced Grocer is a great little spot for a dose of healthy goodness. They’ve got all sorts of stuff on the menu here, but this time we just have to recommend the Quinoa Salad. It’s made with almonds, mint, parsley, various seeds, shallots, grapes and whipped ricotta, and drizzled with a dreamy verjuice dressing. Now that’s a salad bowl.
“One of my favourite places in Brisbane! The staff are always so friendly, the atmosphere is rad & the prices are good. I have never had a breaky meal that I haven’t enjoyed.” – mikeri
You can hardly talk about salads in Brisbane without mentioning Botanica, so here we go. Ready? Botanica! Cool. Wasn’t that fun? Anyway, your choice is obviously plentiful here, but today we recommend the insanely delicious Israeli Couscous Salad. That’s couscous, roasted sweet potato, spinach, and a big old dollop of vegan super-greens pesto. Can’t say much fairer than that, can you?
“An excellent selection of healthy foods. They usually stick a great range of healthy salads as well as a delicious selection of desserts. Servings of the salad are more generous than you’d expect.” – eloisecrouch
Set in a gorgeous old Federation house, Corner Store Cafe is a lovely setting for some quality brunch. They grow a lot of the stuff they use in their own onsite garden, so you know you’re getting nothing but the freshest, most lovingly nurtured herbs and veggies. Go for the Warm Sweet Potato & Chorizo Salad, with salsa verde, red peppers, kale, almonds and haloumi cheese – you won’t look back.

The folks down at Kiss the Berry have boldly proclaimed themselves to be the “Açaí specialists”, and it’s kind of hard to argue with them. These things they can do with those little purple berries are nothing short of delectable. Case in point: The Original. This bowl is stuffed to the brim with banana, strawberries, chia, honey, handmade granola and (of course) a hearty handful of açaí berries. Yum!
“After a huge run an original bowl was what I needed, and much more. Yum!!!” – Rachaelisda1
Cute, rustic and bursting with charm, Miss Bliss is definitely one of Brissy’s salad greats. The lush little outdoor area is a beautiful spot for a bite to eat, and the food really is sublime. If you fancy something hot and fiery, look no further than the Miso Seared Salmon Poke Bowl. It’s a yummy mix of glass noodles, pickled carrot & ginger, avocado, wasabi peas and a stained egg. Whoever Miss Bliss is, we can’t thank her enough!
