Not everywhere manages to snag the title of number-one spot for desserts in Brisbane, so Flour & Chocolate must be doing something right. Actually, they do a lot of things right – everything on their menu is divine. But when it’s cold outside, our particular favourite would have to be the bread and butter putting. It uses croissants instead of bread (extra butter never hurt anyone, right?), and they’re all soaked in a smooth egg custard for rich, silky perfection.

A proper French-style cafe with a serious talent for crepes, Miss Claudes is one of a kind. They do a wide range of breakfast and dessert crepes here, and we’d highly suggest treating yourself to the “Moulin Rouge”. That’s two fresh crepes topped with Nutella, strawberries, banana, Nutella drizzle (you can never have too much Nutella), and served with vanilla ice cream and/or crème Chantilly.

As one of Brisbane’s pudding paradises, we could hardly leave La Casamia off this list. It’s a bright, contemporary venue where desserts are an art form, and you’re guaranteed something delicious, no matter what you order. The Baked Alaska is especially good – and it’s so appropriate for winter. The exquisite mass of ice cream and meringue is served in flames, so you can warm up before you dig in!

Passion Tree is a hugely popular dessert bar in the centre of Brisbane, and it’s certainly earned the adoration it receives. From the vibrant macarons to the wildly creative pancake stacks, everything here is designed to delight. Try the Campfire S’mores hot chocolate, and you’ll soon see what we mean. Loaded with crushed Oreos and toasted marshmallows, there’s a reason it’s described as “epic”.

One of the latest being a stack of pancakes with matcha ice cream, matcha sauce and some mocchi and azuki beans. It’s SO GOOD! As Brisbane’s very first all-vegan bakery, their goodies are both healthy and planet-friendly – so you can feel good about eating them, no matter how many you scoff down. There’s plenty to choose from on the menu, but if you’re not sure where to start, go for the Cinnayums with choccy sprinkles. They’re cin-sational!
