Melbourne’s Biggest, Baddest Burgers

Burgers are changing faster than Lady Gaga’s outfits, so it’s time to update last year’s list of prime places to grab the perfect patty. Here we go!

North

Rockwell and Sons

Rockwell and Sons

Collingwood

When it comes to burgers, Rockwell and Sons does definitely rock well (hehe). The chefs here are marvellous, and they certainly don’t skimp out size-wise. The Hillbilly Smash, for example, is two beef patties, cheese, jalapenos, and even onion rings! “Feed Collingwood”, their mounted sign proclaims, and feed Collingwood they most certainly do. The Beer and Burger Bar

The Beer and Burger Bar

Richmond

We like a name that gets straight to the point. This place sure does know its burgers, and an exotic delicacy awaits you here in the B&BB in the form of the Slow Cooked Lamb Burger. It’s a mouth-watering treat of pulled lamb, smoked bacon, tomato, rocket, red onion, feta cheese, harissa and yoghurt. Yum! Find out more

“Fantastic, gourmet burgers! More pricey than your average burger, but you definitely get what you pay for! Will come here again for a relaxed meal.” – bigjohn88

8bit Burgers

Footscray

8bit Burgers is everyone’s favourite 1980s arcade game-inspired burger joint (and that’s no small accomplishment). It’s fun, funky and functional, and you can tell right away that the staff love working there. We’d highly recommend the ‘1 Up Mushroom Burger’ (crumbed mushroom, cheese, tomato, red onion, green tomato relish, lettuce, mustard and 8bit sauce), which is a hearty steal at just $10. “This place takes the dining scene in Footscray up another notch – funky and hip burger joint with delicious selection of fries, burgers and milkshakes. It gets quite busy during weekdays as it is frequented by uni students and the increasing hipster mob that’s moving into Footscray. The salted caramel milkshake is a must try and so are the chilli fries. Really fast and friendly service as well!” – svchu1

Ziggy's

Ziggy’s Eatery (Balaclava)

Balaclava

When you enter this cosy little comfort food haven, be sure to pay your respects to the Wall of Retired Skateboards. Then, when you’re ready to order, we’d suggest you go for none other than the famous Mooo. That’s 120g of top-grade beef, complete with aioli and Ziggy’s special barbeque sauce, and it goes down like a dream. Especially with a side order of Ziggy’s Fries. Mmm…

Badger vs. Hawk

Melbourne

Chilled, leafy and covered in wall-goblins (you’ll see what we mean when you get there), Badger vs. Hawk is all about coffee in the sunlight, beer in the moonlight, and darn good burgers all round. If you appreciate classic simplicity, fresh produce and flawless execution, you simply can’t go wrong with The Badger. Beef, tomato, lettuce, pickle, onion. Sorted. Find out more

“Is it a burger you want? Don’t miss out on this one! Men I tell you, awesommmme!” –  SamNgus
