Now that your True Local listing is ready to rock ‘n’ roll, it’s time to explore how you can get the most out of it. Let’s get started with some fool-proof tips for success.
Make sure your contact details are up to date
First thing’s first: Let’s get cracking with your contact details. It may sound like a no-brainer, but make sure that all of your contact information is correct and current. That includes your phone number, email and a link your own website; all of which can be edited through your Business Centre.
Add an engaging description of your business
This is your chance to describe what your business is all about, so have fun discussing exactly what make you special (and no, we don’t mean your hilarious Nic Cage impression). Highlight the things that set you apart, and be punchy, concise and to the point about it. If you can, try to speak to the reader directly through pronouns like “you” and “your”. A great way to catch the reader’s eye from the get-go is to ask a question and offer a solution. For example, if you’re an electrician you might say, ‘Looking for a sparky you can trust? Our experienced team are the go-to guys to get the job done.’ A personal touch never goes astray!
Include your opening hours
You’re probably not going to get too much customer action if nobody knows when you’re open, so make sure your opening hours are displayed correctly. If they ever change, zip straight over to your Business Centre and update them right away.
Include a list of your top services
Now is the time to really shine. If you’re a gardener who can trim a hedge faster than you can say ‘Edward Scissorhands’, let the True Local community know! If you’re a hairdresser with the haircutting precision of a ninja, same goes for you too! This is the moment to highlight your specific areas of expertise, so feel free to include as many as you like. People will check this part to see if your business can offer exactly what they’re looking for, so don’t leave anything out.
Add a gallery
Our community is more likely to be drawn to listings that feature galleries. Visual components are a sure-fire way to showcase the best of your work, so get those photos and videos up. Photos showing you and your team deep in action are a perfect way to demonstrate your skills. Similarly, images of previously completed projects will give potential customers a taste of your amazing workmanship. After all, it’s good to show off sometimes!
Pop in and say hi to your reviewers
If a happy customer leaves a glowing review on your listing page, why not drop them a little thank you in return? It shows humility and gratitude, and reminds everyone that there are actual people behind your business. If you do get a negative review, don’t worry too much; it happens to most businesses from time to time. The best way to handle these is to respond promptly and professionally – thank them for taking the time to leave a review and apologise for the fact that they weren’t satisfied with the service provided. To leave a response, all you have to do is log into your business account, click the ‘Reply’ button, and type out your message.
Consider adding special offers
Everyone loves a bargain, and spotting one on your True Local listing will encourage people to check your page more frequently for future deals. What does a deal look like? Depending on your type of business, it could be a percentage discount, a 2-for-1 offer, Happy Hour special or a package deal – whatever works best for the services you provide. A hot deal will not only grab people’s attention, but also encourage them to spread the word to their friends and family.
Now that you’ve unlocked a new level of True Local mastery, your listing should be good to go! If you still need a hand, head to our FAQ page for more info.
