Business In Review: Cafe Cre Asion

Cafe Cre Asion
21 Alberta Street
Sydney, NSW

Yu Sasaki, owner and head chef of Cafe Creasion is quiet, driven and always busy. However when walking in, he’s still all smiles and welcoming. In a city where a cafe pops up on every corner, he knows a few things about staying true to his original business vision, but adapting to a new digital age.
On a quiet morning after the breakfast rush, he takes some time out to answer some questions on his little hidden cafe, staying local and supporting small businesses.

What’s the story of Cafe Cre Asion?
Cre Asion was born when decided to start my own business 4 years ago. I had been working in few fine dining restaurants and I wanted to open up my own business with small money I had. I didn’t want my business to be just an ordinary cafe, so I decided to cook everything that I planned on selling in-house.

Despite being a little hidden cafe in a huge city, how have you driven the popularity of your business?
I believe it’s by staying true to me. I put a lot of thought into making decisions, and then put the best practice and quality into the idea. I don’t follow any trends or the ideas of others. If I want to do something new, I often question myself why and how I want things to be done.
There are a lot of cafes around city and if I start looking at the others and let them influence me, I’ll probably lose confidence in my own business.

Do you feel your social media presence has helped?
Yes, it helps a lot. It’s an easy way to stay connected to customers.

What do you think is the secret to good customer service?
We should love our customers and try to think about them at all times. I focus on what they want while they are in the cafe and try to always give them excellent service. That way, the customers feel special.

You’ve got 17 reviews and 4.5/5 starts on TrueLocal, how do you feel about locals supporting small businesses?
I am very happy about that and I know I still have to work even harder to keep the locals happy.

What are your top 3 favourite businesses right now?
Aesop, Henry Wilson and Tetsuya’s

What’s your one piece of advice to other local businesses on TrueLocal?
