We spoke with founder’s of Bracegirdle’s House of Fine Chocolate, Garry and Sue Bracegirdle to discover their local story:
What is your name and what do you do?
We are Garry and Sue Bracegirdle – together we run Bracegirdle’s House of Fine Chocolate.
What is your businesses story?
We started our business 10 years ago, as Adelaide’s first dessert café in Glenelg. Fast forward a decade and we now have 5 cafes across SA, at Glenelg, Marion, Clarence Gardens, Toorak Gardens and McLaren Vale.
What is your business famous for? Do you have a signature dish?
We are Australia’s most awarded chocolate company, producing premium handmade chocolates. We have several signature dishes but one of our most popular is the mudslide – a tower of meringue, ice cream, strawberries and liquid Belgium chocolate (we use the same chocolate for everything on our menu).
What is your fave local business in your area?
There are so many great businesses in Glenelg it makes it difficult to choose a favourite!
What do you love about your local area?
The vibrant feel of Glenelg with its amazing beaches, fantastic shops and cafes that attract both locals and visitors.
Do you have any advice for small businesses just starting up?
Do lots of research to make sure that your product or service is something new or complimentary to the area where you want to work. Be prepared for hard work and sacrifices.
