One glance at Cloudland’s interior will make sure your significant other never questions your judgement again. A sweeping palace of glorious opulence, it’s all huge chandeliers, marble fittings and lush greenery. Head there Thursday night for Soul’sa, which includes dinner, margaritas and free salsa lessons. As for dessert? Try the Ginger Crème Brûlée with a choccy banana spring roll!
“Such a funky place, interior design is so groovy and always get mesmerised by the bathrooms. ha ha. I am yet to try the food but what I can say is, the cocktails are INCREDIBLE. I always ask for something sweet and to be surprised and they never disappoint, very talented staff and know what works and what doesn’t. Always a go to when I’m in the mood for a few drinks!” – Sim124
A strong contender for the world’s happiest place, Annerley’s Lucky Cat Cafe gives you the chance to simply set your troubles aside and hang out with some awesome cats. Our favourite is Anabelle (those eyes!), but you can bet that Lulu, Rose, Henry and Bugs will all do their best to out-adorable each other for you. Drinks and light snacks are served, and you can even volunteer there if you want!

We all need a little gastronomic pampering every now and then, and nobody does it better in Brisbane than the good old Esquire team. You can choose the standard swanky restaurant experience (in which case, go for the Marbled calotte of beef with fries), or go all in and splash out for the degustation and wine matching. It’s pricey, but it makes for one hell of a special treat!
“A fabulous night out. The degustation is a must try. We took friends here for a celebration and everything about this restaurant is stunning. I love the look and the location is great – perfect views. Will be back.” – Victoria Anderson
Bars with Live Music
A friend to both local and international artists, Black Bear Lodge is the place to be for cutting-edge live music in Brisbane. This cosy, alpine-inspired bar is hidden away in the Brunswick Street Mall, and features an intimate performance space where there’s always something happening. Settle in, order up a Patsy Clyne Shot (vodka, butterscotch and jersey caramel), and prepare for a good night.
“This place is so much fun. They often have live music in the venue, some chairs where you can sit as well as a dance floor. Dancing doesn’t really kick off until late when the DJ’s start but they often play old school music like 80’s 90’s classics with a great beat for dancing.” – Kat2525
Girls’ Night Out
Sprawling, decadent and boatloads of fun are just a few ways one could describe Laruche. This legendary nightclub/bar/restaurant extravaganza is perfect for blowing off some steam after a long week, and we’ll wager you’ve never seen such a collection of plushy armchairs. The cocktails are magnificent, especially the fruity, gingery Laruche Punch with vodka, sloe gin and elderflower.
“The decor here is incredible. Bar staff are fast and friendly and the cocktails are top notch. Laruche could do with a bit more of a dancefloor as it can become crowded at times. This is a testament to its popularity though, and for good reason!” – Dayemm
