When the weather is getting chillier by the minute, we prescribe copious amounts of coffee, cake and home-style cooking. Here’s where to find just that in Perth!
A triumph of art deco style, The Moon Cafe resembles an American diner crossed with the interior of a plush ocean liner (sounds strange but it works, trust us). It’s alluring, romantic and stays open very late, so it’s ready whenever you need it. For a truly heart-warming feed, try the steaming hot lamb ragu. It comes with braised tomato, fennel, green beans, orecchiette and mascarpone, and simply can’t be passed up. Find out more
“Been here a few times whilst visiting Perth and really enjoyed the food. Nice vibe, good food and a great atmosphere! Perth needs more places like this” – Kennnybarker
A trip to Little Stove is like waltzing back through time into the home of some eccentric Victorian aristocrat. It’s all brass, doilies, leather sofas, flowers, antique furniture, dainty teacups and musty tomes, and it’s a wonderfully relaxed little spot for a bite of breakfast. The ‘Big Stove’ cheerfully presents us with bacon, eggs, mushroom and beans on toast. What more could you possibly desire on a chilly autumnal morn? Find out more
“Friendly staff, very good coffee and interesting food. Well worth a visit.” – traveller1
Little Creatures Brewery may be all about stunning ocean views, a comfy atmosphere, friendly service and top-notch beer, but today we’re focusing on something else entirely: sticky ribs! Head down with your mates, order up a massive sharing plate, and get stuck into the finger-licking lunch of your life! Beer and ribs? Sounds like the perfect way to escape the cold. Find out more
“One of the best pubs in Perth/Freo. Good food, super location and it goes without saying that the beer rocks. Any time I have friends in town from interstate or overseas we always take them here and no-one has been disappointed.” – ozeguy
A relatively new establishment, tbsp. is quickly emerging as a real jewel in the Perth cafe crown. It’s clean, bright, and delightfully uncomplicated, with a sumptuous range of Asian-inspired brunch and lunch options to tuck into. The congee is some of the very best in town, with pulled chicken, a slow-cooked egg and chicken crackling all blending into a rich, warming bowl of goodness. It’s a fantastically heart-warming way to start your day. Find out more

As befitting its stained glass windows, Gusto Food is a veritable temple of brunchy perfection. It’s got a charming, homey feel to it, and you’d have to be made of stronger stuff than us to resist the call of the treats counter. The potato hotcake is magnificent, with poached eggs, smoked salmon, avocado salsa and hollandaise. Honestly, it’s just got everything you want in a breakfast. Find out more
