Adelaide certainly isn’t lacking in cheer this month, be it festive or otherwise. From special twists on classic musicals to awesome watery obstacle courses, you’re bound to find something to tickle your fancy.

Gathered Markets

Date: 3 – 4 December

Location: The Queen’s Theatre, Adelaide

We’ll take any chance to browse our way through a bunch of cool stuff. Especially 70 stalls worth of cool stuff, all packed into the grand old Queen’s Theatre building. Gathered Markets is pure art and design heaven, with the best independent boutiques in South Australia getting together to strut their unique and creative stuff. From art and homeware to cosmetics and fashion, this is a fantastic opportunity for a spot of extra-special Christmas shopping. There will also be live music, loads of food and even some workshops to partake in, so it’s looking like a very good weekend indeed. Find out more

ObstaSplash

Date: 3 – 4 December

Location: Oakbank Racecourse, Oakbank

Temperatures are rising fast, so we’re currently pretty receptive to any idea that involves being drenched with large quantities of water. ObstaSplash is the kind of obstacle course anyone can get behind, featuring several kilometres of drenched, inflatable madness to traverse with your mates. Better yet – there’s absolutely no mud involved whatsoever, so you don’t need to spend the day fretting over the fearsome laundry battle you’d otherwise be waging. The course features multiple sections, including ObstaBalance, ObstaClimb, and ObstaDance, so you’re basically guaranteed a day of fun. Find out more

Santa’s Wonderland

Date: 9 – 18 December

Location: Adelaide Showground, Wayville

Ahh, here we go! For ten days in December, the entire Adelaide Showground will be utterly transformed into a true Christmas paradise, with so much to do that multiple trips may be needed just to fit it all in (what a shame). There’s ice skating, live stage performances, amusement rides, festive characters, a snow pit, tobogganing, something called the ‘Snow Dome Selfie Station’ and tons, tons more. It’s total holiday magic, and an utter treat for everyone with a soft spot for festive fun. Find out more

Singin’ in the Rain

Date: 1 – 23 December

Location: Adelaide Festival Centre, Adelaide

ObstaSplash was a good start, but now we fancy a touch of old-school Hollywood extravagance to go with our watery fun. This incredible revival of Singin’ in the Rain is fresh from a smash-hit UK tour, and it’s coming to dazzle Australia next. Top-notch production values, amazing performers and 12,000 litres of water combine to form one of the most awesome stage shows of recent times. As the Daily Telegraph says, it “genuinely makes you feel better about life”, and will have tap dancing all the way home.
