The sun is shining and Christmas is just around the corner. We don’t know about you, but we’re feeling chipper already! It’s the season of giving, so allow us to share these four awesome events going on around Brisbane this month.

Brisbane Latin Dance Festival

Date: 1 – 4 December

Location: The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, South Brisbane

There’s no dance like Latin dance, which means there’s no dance festival like this one. The Brisbane Latin Dance Festival is a spectacular celebration of colourful costumes, unbridled exuberance and, of course, some of the sexiest moves this side of Rio. This four-day extravaganza attracts dancers from all across the world, and features tons of performances, workshops, socials and more. Marvel at the sultry elegance of salsa, the swirling steps of mambo and the crackling energy of samba, before trying them out for yourself. It’ll be a good laugh (everyone is terrible at first), and you might just pick up one hell of a new hobby. Find out more

Twilight Markets

Date: 2 December

Location: King George Square, Brisbane

Ooh, shopping time! But not just any shopping; this is the Twilight Markets! Held just twice a year, this is Brisbane’s leading display of local indie boutiques and handmade, artisan goodies. Over 80 stalls will be set up for you to browse through, covering everything from fashion to homewares to art. It’s a wonderful opportunity to pick up some unique and gorgeously crafted gifts, guaranteed to make someone very happy this Christmas (even if that someone is just you). Local jazz bands will be providing the soundtrack, and the onsite cafes are perfect for sitting down to grab a bite and check out your brand new purchases. Find out more

HARD Festival

Date: 4 December

Location: Brisbane Showgrounds, Bowen Hills

Anyone into hip-hop, dance and serious bass is most likely familiar with HARD Events. For the first time ever, this heavyweight US promoter is crossing over to Australian shores, and the results are looking very promising. The inaugural HARD Festival rocks a powerful line-up indeed, headlined by genre-hopping electronic act Zeds Dead. Also playing are rising trap maestros GTA, chaotic electro-dance fiend Ghastly, and HARD founder/superstar DJ Destructo. It’s gonna be nuts, and you should totally give it a look if you’re into this kind of music. Find out more

Christmas Beach Cinema

Date: 16 – 23 December

Location: Streets Beach, South Bank

Us Aussies are very lucky to be able to spend much of the holiday season lazing about on the beach, and now we can even watch movies at the same time! Christmas Beach Cinema is showing a different festive classic every night from the 16th to the 23rd of December, including White Christmas, The Muppet Christmas Carol (complete with singing Michael Caine), Home Alone, Elf, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and, of course, the Arnie mid-90s career downslide classic, Jingle All the Way. So, without further ado, we cordially invite you to grab your towel, head to Streets Beach and PUT DET COOKIE DAOWN. NAOW! Find out more
