Phew! December wasn’t half bad, was it? Still, January’s set to blow it right out the water, so buckle up and prepare for more of the good stuff!

Hopman Cup

Date: 1 – 7 January

Location: Perth Arena, Perth

Hopman? Is that one of those Marvel Comics movies? Ohhh. It’s a tennis thing. Just kidding, of course it’s a tennis thing! In fact, it’s one of the most famous indoor tennis things in the world, and serves (pun intended) to get everyone in the mood for the big Australian Open. This year features star-studded teams from the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Switzerland (including Roger Federer), the United States and Australia, and you can catch it all at the amazing Perth Arena. Fringe World Festival

Date: 20 January – 19 February

Location: Various

The Fringe World Festival is a fabulous celebration of all things weird, unique and wonderful, mixing the coolest Western Australian artists with a variety of acts from all over the world. The line-up includes music, comedy, cabaret, family shows, performance art and tons more, and the festival hubs are located across the city to ensure that everyone can make it to something awesome. WA Cider Festival

Date: 21 – 22 January

Location: Core Cider House, Pickering Brook

What would summer be without cider? Well, that really depends on whether or not you like cider, we suppose. Still, if you do, the WA Cider Festival is definitely your cup of fermented apples. The gorgeous grounds of the Core Cider House are playing host to a full weekend of fun, starring such cider maestros as The Beerfarm, Cheeky Monkey, Funk Cider and Blackwood Valley’s The Cidery. Each exhibitor has been carefully handpicked, and they’re all dying to show off their refreshing wares. A rich bounty of gourmet food also awaits, and there’s live music from Andrew Winton and Baby Animals’ Frank Celenza and Eddie Parise. It’s gonna be tasty. Find out more

Triple J Hottest 100 Australia Day Floating Session

Date: 26 January

Location: Barrack Street Jetty, Perth

Forget whatever you’ve got planned for this year’s Triple J Hottest 100 countdown, because we’re willing to bet it’s not as fun as jumping on your very own party boat and sailing around the Swan River while the countdown blasts out. Boat Collective is offering just that, and their vessels are loaded up with top-shelf drinks, fancy food and lovely staff dedicated to making sure you have the time of your life.
