Whether you’re into fine local wines or film festivals with a twist, Hobart is a lovely place to be this November.

Tasmanian White Wine Weekend

Date: 5 – 6 November

Location: Princes Wharf, Castray Esplanade

Tasmania makes some fantastic wine (trust us – we’ve tried more than a few glasses!), and this is your chance to sample 50 of its greatest hits. From Chardonnay to Sauvignon, Semillon to sparkling, it’s all here and it’s all divine. You’ll also have the chance to experience a range of wine masterclasses, eat your fill from an incredible selection of food vendors, and enjoy live music and entertainment as you sip on your favourite vintages. Yep – sounds like our kind of weekend!

Sustainable Living Festival

Date: 12 – 13 November

Location: Princes Wharf, Castray Esplanade

Sustainable Living Tasmania truly believes that the future could be awesome, and you will too once you check out their festival. It’s all about teaching, learning and having a good time in the name of a healthier, less wasteful existence. There’s music from the likes of Mangus (featuring Katy Raucher), The Sketches and Zach Henderson, and entertainment from the Sands Family Circus and the Old Nick Theatre Company. Plus, there’s a range of workshops, talks, exhibitions and activities centred on living and eating better. You want to save the world? Start right here.

Tasmanian Eco Film Festival

Date: 17 – 20 November

Location: State Cinema, North Hobart

You still want to save the world? This is your next stop! The Tasmanian Eco Film Festival is a showcase of features and shorts dedicated to inspiring environmental awareness. The line-up includes the fascinating Seed: The Untold Story, the heart-warming Kakota: The Islet of Hope and the powerful Canopy. Art exhibitions, talks with the filmmakers, and even a breathtaking virtual reality experience are all part of the deal. The organisers quite rightly work on the basis that the wellbeing of our planet transcends all creeds and beliefs, so all are welcome to attend.

Hobart Christmas Pageant

Date: 19 November

Location: Various

Christmas is just around the corner, and nothing kicks off Hobart’s festive season like the wonderful Christmas Pageant. On November 19th, the streets will come to life with a huge procession celebrating all the cultures that call Hobart home. Everything’s fair game, from bagpipers to Buddhist dancers, and you’ll never find a more positive display of what the city’s all about. It’s an unmissable celebration of unity, creativity and general merriment – which sums up Christmas pretty well, don’t you think?
