What’s Happening in Brisbane This October
Well, build us up and call us buttercup! It seems Brisbane has no end of juicy goodies lined up for us this October, so here’s but a taster of what’s in store. We hope your schedule is nice and clear…

Oktoberfest Brisbane 2016
Date: 7 – 9 and 14 – 16 October
Location: Brisbane Showgrounds, Bowen Hills
Ahh, Oktoberfest! Booze, merriment and huge tables stretching into the distance, all crammed into tents you could fit a circus in. The beer flows, the entertainment dazzles, and there’s enough hearty feeds to keep half of Bavaria fed. Expect nothing but the best in imported German goodness (the beers are brewed exclusively to the ‘Bavarian Purity Law’), as well as numerous cultural attractions, performances and a host of other seasonal joys to immerse yourself in. Compete for the Miss Oktoberfest title (hope your cow milking’s up to scratch), put your facial hair to the test in the ‘Beardmeister’ contest, and generally prepare for a good time. Prost! Pinot Palooza
Date: 16 October
Location: Light Space, Fortitude Valley
If hearty ales aren’t your thing, how do you feel about a cheeky splash of Pinot Noir? Mmm, thought so! The fabulous Pinot Palooza is back in Brisbane for a triumphant fifth year running, boasting over 100 top-class wines, a fleet of lip-smacking food trucks, and a veritable Justice League of the city’s most talented sommeliers to guide you through the vines. Every ticket comes complete with an exceedingly swanky (and rather large) Plumm Vintage REDb glass which is yours to keep, so it’s an absolute must for lovers of all things red and grapey.
