Adelaide’s 5 Hottest Fireplace Pubs
A pub with a fireplace is a wonderful thing, but all too hard to come by these days. Never fear, however. Adelaide always delivers the best, whether it’s wine, local produce or cosy, toasty fireplace pubs!
Housed within a grand old stony cottage, The Rising Sun is a gorgeously rustic spot to indulge in some fine eating and drinking. As everyone knows, you can’t spell “rustic” without “fireplace”, and this place is rocking a lovely old number to warm your weary bones. The food is absolutely top notch, with the braised venison shoulder in chocolate red wine glaze being a particular favourite.
“The food was absolutely delicious! All 3 dishes were wonderful including the sides we ordered. I had a taste of each of the desserts ordered and they were all mouthwatering. I would definitely go back to this place and would definitely recommend it. The place itself has a great atmosphere to it and the service we received on the night was good.” – xbabydollx
Clean, contemporary and thoroughly uncomplicated, The Bath Hotel is a proper classic of the Adelaide pub scene. The interior features pleasantly simple décor and a real cosy charm, and the food options are very VERY plentiful. The ‘Pub Grub’ menu is definitely where it’s at, especially the seasoned beef schnitzel with salad, crispy chips and any sauce you want.
“Another one of Adelaide’s greats… the food is great for pub style grub, the drinks are standard, bar staff are friendly, the outdoor area is a hit in Summer, inside is a hit in Winter. Can’t really go wrong!” – ShaeShae
Whether you fancy a quick beverage or a full-on feast of fabulous Italian cuisine, Ruby Red Flamingo has you well and truly covered. The artwork is striking and eclectic, and the wine list is a broadly sweeping triumph, and multiple fireplaces keep everything nice and balmy. As for food, try some of the yummy seafood pasta. The prawny, spicy, saffrony ‘Mezze Maniche’ is always a good pick if you’re looking for something a little fancy.
“This place is AMAZING, if you want real authentic Italian food, this is the place to go.” – LW94
Everything about Gaucho’s is big, bold and designed to please, and you’d be hard pressed to find a livelier eating atmosphere anywhere in Adelaide. This place is fun, and the staff go all out to make sure you have the best possible time. It’s a meat lover’s paradise, and the ‘Cerdo’ (twice-cooked pork belly with Peruvian criolla) is a gloriously hearty feed to enjoy by the crackling hearth.

A Greek-style seafood joint with a slick, modern look, Metro Oyster Bar is here to make shellfish cool again. The range of oysters is great, of course, but the South Australian king prawn and calamari shashliks win the day for us. Everything really does taste like it’s fresh off the boat, and the fireplace is the kind of nice, homely touch you don’t often get in a place like this. Well done, Metro!
