Your Guide to the Best Fireplace Bars in Canberra
As winter draws near, some extra cheer never goes amiss. Many people underestimate the awesomeness of our nation’s capital so we’re here to teach the rest of Australia a thing or two. Here are the five cosiest bars in Canberra!
Alright, so it’s not exactly a bar but it serves booze and it’s got a lovely fireplace, so we’re including it on this list! The sweeping farmlands and idyllic splendour of Pialligo Estate draw in countless visitors, and it’s no surprise it’s such a popular wedding venue. The Farmhouse eatery is a luxuriously cosy setting for some proper fine dining (that Muscovy duck!), and is guaranteed to fix your winter blues.

A vibrant mix of colours, shapes and elegant design makes Monster one of the most eye-catching joints in town. An attractive, circular open fire takes centre stage, and there’s so much other crazy stuff to marvel at that you’ll hardly know where to start. If you want to try something fun, go for the twice-cooked WA octopus platter. You haven’t had octopus ‘til you’ve had it cooked twice!

Wilbur, you magnificent man! That’s a nice cafe bar you got there, sir. It’s funky, artsy and full of vibrant Hackett character, and boasts a sumptuous menu drawing inspiration from all over the world. The pizzas are top notch, particularly the chilli, basil and rock salt one, and the wine selection is surprisingly strong. What we’re really loving though, is the fireplace that nestles nicely into the purple wall, adding a welcomed homely touch.

Honestly, there’s nothing better than your local pub and Civic Pub is one of Canberra’s very best, with a spacious layout, friendly staff and massive pool hall to keep you amused. It’s been recently renovated too, and the toasty fireplace is very enticing indeed on a cold winter’s day. As is the Civic Pub Burger, come to think of it! What a burger it is.
“great local pub in the city for those who don’t want to go to some Irish named theme bar! they actually have the footy on and good cheap food. tables outside for summer (and smokers) and pool tables as far as the eye can see. video juke box is cool too.” – Brooklyn
A sprawling eatery on the beautiful Rose Cottage estate, this place is great for grabbing a few drinks and tasty bite in style. A bricky fireplace sits opposite the ‘Saloon’ bar like an adorable little house, surrounded by tables and plush leather couches. The scent of fresh cooking fills the heated air, and main courses are just $10 on Wednesdays!
