Get A Super Hot New Haircut For Autumn. Find Out What’s Trending With Morph Quarters

The relationship with your hairdresser is a precious thing. After all, we trust them to make us look good and feel even better! Finding the right hairdresser can be hard though. You want not only want someone who knows what they’re talking about, but also someone who knows how to work with your own unruly locks.

Perth’s Morph Quarters certainly seem to have perfected the art, if their many rave reviews are anything to go by. We had a chat with Kerryn Wilson to find out more.

Hi Kerryn, it’s lovely to meet you! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

My name is Kerryn Wilson and I am the manager at Morph in Cannington. I have been in the hair industry for over 10 years. I started my career in New Zealand and hair is my absolute passion!

You’ve been in the industry for awhile then, so you must have seen a lot of trends come and go. What do you think will be a big hair trend in 2016?

The Blunt Jaw-Length Bob! Styling with texture is a massive haircut trend for 2016, Lobs are going shorter and more dramatic and they are a super-hot look this year.

Colours are going more natural – Balayage is going from being contrasted to being a lot more softer and blended. Baby-lights are going to be a big trend this year as well as multi-dimensional colours to complement all of the textures cuts.

Styling trends are very worn in this year – half top knots, textured ponytails and braids are still big trends for 2016

It sounds like it’s going to be a huge year for hair. What other hairstyles are coming back into fashion?

Fringes! Blunt and textured bangs are making a huge comeback! Expect to see a lot of fringes back on the runway this year.

That sounds great! So do you have any tips to make sure my hair stylist nails this look?

Pictures! Bring in pictures of what you like, what you don’t like; it’s a great way to communicate with your stylist if you don’t quite know the technical terms to describe what style you like. Hairdressers love pictures!

Are there any hair products that you consider an absolute must-have?

OLAPLEX! If you’re not using Olaplex in your colours then you are missing out. Especially blondes! When we lighten our hair, we are breaking down the disulphide bonds within the hair structure.

Olapex is a revolutionary product that we can use in the colour to re-bond the broken bonds as we are colouring to prevent any further damage to the hair, Olaplex also comes with a take home treatment that is recommended to be done once a week to keep strengthening your hair. For once, blonde hair can be healthy hair! AMAZING!

We all know we’re meant to visit the hair salon regularly but what are a couple of expert tips for maintaining your hair between visits?

At-home treatments are a great way to keep your hair healthy and hydrated in between visits and to prevent split ends.

Along with whatever homecare products your stylist recommends you, having a quality shampoo and conditioner really are the foundation for keeping your hair in good condition which makes it easier to style and maintain its colour and vitality.

Thank for the scoop Kerryn. For our final question, where do you get your ideas from?

I am constantly inspired by other stylists’ work. Instagram is flowing with creativity and talent! Check out our Instagram!
