Slide the City

Date: Get your tickets now so you don’t miss out on 7 Feb
Location: Lansdowne Street, Melbourne

IT’S A GIANT SLIP ‘N’ SLIDE. Enough said. And this is no ordinary waterslide… Slide The City takes over Lansdowne Street in the heart of Melbourne this summer with an absolutely massive water slide. Remember back in the day when you’d lay down a tarp in your backyard, slather on some water and detergent, and it was the best thing ever? Imagine that, but over 300 metres. Booking is essential, so be sure to check the website for ticket options. Now you just need to decide whether you want to bring your own inflatable item or go the whole hog and grab a specialised upgraded tube for the ultimate sliding experience. Find out more

International Street Food Festival

Date: (whoops, we just found out that this event has recently changed to be held in March, so keep it in your diaries and stay tuned)
Location: River Terrace on the Yarra

You can’t not love street food. You just can’t. There’s nothing better than strolling through stall after stall of delicious gourmet food from all over the world on a warm summer’s day, and picking and choosing the best bits from each cuisine. The classic street food charm is coming to the shores of the beautiful Yarra in the form of the International Street Food Festival (they really didn’t mess around with the name there!). It’s a huge foodie experience filled with not just great food, but the hottest selection of local bands and DJs and a Mini Market Bazaar. Even better, some of the proceeds will be donated to beyondblue and the Cancer Council. How good is that? Find out more

Sugar Mountain Festival

Date: 23 January
Location: Victorian College of the Arts + Melbourne Arts Precinct

What exactly is Sugar Mountain, you ask? No, it’s not a really big hill made of candy (although that would be pretty sweet). It’s actually better than that. It’s one of the biggest music and art festivals to hit Melbourne this year. Featuring amazing Australian and international artists including Hot Chip, Courtney Barnett and Dirty Three and an eclectic collection of contemporary and modern artists, this is definitely one of the hippest events you’ve ever seen. If it’s food you’re after, check out Sensory – an ‘immersive restaurant experiment’ that will explore the relationship between all five senses in a truly mesmerising food experience. Be sure to book ahead and check the schedule so you don’t miss your favourite acts! Find out more

Zoo Twilights

Date: From 29 January
Location: Melbourne Zoo

No one wants to see the beautiful fauna of the world disappear, so Melbourne Zoo is throwing a huge bash to fight wildlife extinction. With 14 concerts over 14 nights in early 2016, you’ll have the chance to not only catch artists such as Tex Perkins, the John Butler Trio and Josh Pyke, but you’ll also be able to explore the zoo at dusk with animal exhibits open before every show. There will be delicious food and cold beverages available every night. And of course, all proceeds will go towards helping Zoos Victoria in the fight against wildlife extinction! Find out more
