South Bank Parklands

The Parklands are one of Brisbane’s most beautiful outdoor sights, and even more so when awesome firework are filling the skies above. They’re the best vantage point for the South Bank display, and they will also be hosting movie screenings and tons of local food trucks. It does tend to fill up fast, however, so try to get there early. It’ll just mean more time to party, right?

Torba Restaurant & Lounge is a good place to chill beforehand, and South Bank Surf Club serves up a range of tasty grub. For snacks and beer, try Tippler’s Tap.

Mt Coot-tha Lookout

As the highest peak in Brisbane, it’s safe to say that Mt Coot-tha is a pretty decent spot to catch the fireworks. You get panoramic views all the way out to Moreton Bay, which means you won’t miss a single rocket as they light up the night. This is a great choice for families, or for anyone who wants to escape the intense partying engulfing most of the city.

Mt Coot-tha Lookout certainly isn’t lacking in flavour, with Kuta Cafe, Abode Cafe and Mt Coot-tha Summit Restaurant all serving up yummy options.

Highgate Hill Park

Highgate Hill Park is another awesome venue for a quieter kind of evening. The city vistas are glorious, and it’s especially lovely on a warm summer night. Bring along a picnic blanket, find yourself a spot on the grass, and settle in for the most romantic New Year’s Eve you’ve ever had. You’ll definitely impress that special someone – trust us!

For a nearby foodie treat, try the Chinese delicacies at Trang Restaurant. Mondo Organics offers healthier bites, and Lychee Lounge is pure luxury.

Wilsons Lookout

Wilsons Lookout is an unassuming little slice of green over in New Farm, but the views beyond the river are absolutely spectacular. You can see both the skyline and Kangaroo Point, and the place itself is secluded enough that you won’t have to worry about too many others spoiling the mood (unless they all read this article… then you’re in trouble).

If you fancy something spicy, definitely stop by Taj Mahal Indian Cuisine. Himalayan Cafe specialises in authentic Nepalese and Tibetan fare, and 100 Degree is hot pot heaven.
