Rockingham

This beachside retreat is a great choice for some family-friendly New Year’s fun. They always put on a top show here, with the Churchill Park foreshore hosting rides, attractions, and loads of yummy food stalls. There will also be live entertainment by artists including Reece Mastin and Jason Singh from Taxiride. And of course you’ll have to hang around for the amazing fireworks spectaculars at 9pm and midnight – what could be better than that?

If you’re feeling a bit peckish, Zocalo Mexican Restaurant is very highly regarded by the locals. Wing Ho offers a tasty Chinese fix, and Sunsets Cafe & Bistro does serious seafood.

Swan River

We do love a nice foreshore, so here’s another one! Swan River is the proud host of Perth’s biggest New Year’s Eve celebrations, and it’s always a total blast. It features fireworks at 9pm and midnight, with plenty of vantage points available to get a proper look. It’s all going on here, so it’s a strong option if you’re really feeling the festivities.

If you’re also feeling the hunger, try Recipe Restaurant for Persian goodness or Friends Restaurant for some modern Australian flair.

Kings Park

Got young kids but don’t want to miss out on all the awesome New Year’s Eve revelry? No worries – just bring the little ones down to Kings Park! It’s relaxed, quiet and ideal for families, as well as being a lovely spot to spend a warm summer evening. The gardens are gorgeous, and you can celebrate the end of 2016 in peace.

As for food, there’s plenty around to tempt you. You could have a curry at Rajputana, explore the unique fusion fare at Meeka Restaurant, or pop over to Zafferano for a bite of Italian.

Rottnest Island

If you’re looking for a New Year’s Eve you’ll never forget, head over to Rottnest Island. They have loads of fun activities lined up, and your only struggle will be deciding what to do first! (#thestruggleisreal) Expect roaming characters, a silent disco, an unbelievably extensive food village, glow-in-the-dark face painting and a variety of live stage shows to keep everyone entertained. The fireworks kick off at 9pm, so even the young’uns can stay up to catch them.

If the food village doesn’t fill you up, don’t despair. Hotel Rottnest and Aristos are standing by to help.

The Aviary NYE Party

The Aviary

This is certainly one for the grown-ups, and we think you’ll heartily approve. The Aviary’s New Year’s Eve Party is taking the form of a secret garden oasis, complete with a drinks package, food stalls, canapés, DJs and live music (including a countdown set from local favourites Odette Mercy and Her Soul Atomics), and heaps more surprises besides. You’ll just have to turn up to see what they are! Find out more

“Every time I go to shop in the city, I always pop into the Aviary Roof Top Bar for a drink and a snack. It is always abuzz with people and the casual vibe and atmosphere makes it a great escape from the shopping in the city. Great views, always sunny, large range of drinks to choose from which are reasonably priced considering its location. Bar/finger foods are great. Friendly & efficient staff.” – Kikininja
