Black Bear Lodge

Fortitude Valley

Snuggled away in Brunswick Street Mall, Black Bear Lodge is the current incarnation of the famous Troubadour. It’s rocking a very swanky ‘60s Alpine chalet’ vibe, and the front stage features a variety of free-entry casual residencies on weekends. ‘Happy Campers’ on Sundays also stars some of Brisbane’s best songwriters, so be sure take a peek! Lefty’s Old Time Music Hall

Saddle up, fellas! It’s time ride on down to the grand old Baroona Labor Hall, where a certain honkey-tonk saloon bar currently plies its goodly trade. Settle in for some smooth country twangs, classic carney hijinks and enough whiskey to fuel a space shuttle. The famous whiskey and apple juice concoctions in particular are a definite must try. Find out more

Sonny’s House of Blues

Ooh a moody LA dive bar? That’s how we like it! Blues is, of course, on the agenda, but you can also expect a hearty dose of rock ‘n’ roll, rhythm and blues, and even a monthly ska night. There’s more than just music though. Sonny’s is a sultry, seductive sort of place with a penchant for classic cocktails (the Blue Lagoon is simply marvellous) and tantalising Mexican grub. Find out more
