Enlighten

Date: 4-12 March

Canberra’s keeping the lights on this March as the city comes alive after-hours as part of Enlighten – a nine-day festival full of surprises. With venues all over Canberra, Enlighten is a festival for the whole family, as many of the city’s national attractions become giant projector screens and play host to a bunch of free and ticketed events. You’ll be treated to captivating experiences including live music, stand-up comedy, rare film showings, architectural projections, dining experiences (did we mention there are gonna be Noodle Markets?) and much, much more. Find out more

 

Lights! Canberra! Action!

Date: 11 March
Location: Senate Rose Gardens, Old Parliament House

Film watchers, aspiring filmmakers, and anyone with a creative bone in your body – this one’s for you! The 11th “Lights Canberra Action” film festival is back this year to showcase the talents of the very best local film enthusiasts. For this year’s theme, “Brilliant Possibilities”, participants were given a list of ten items to be included in their films and just ten days to shoot and produce them. How’s that for a challenge? And for the rest of us, we’ll get to enjoy the result at the beautiful Senate Rose Gardens – sweet! Find out more

 

Canberra Balloon Spectacular

Date: 12-20 March
Location: Lawns of Old Parliament House

I think we can all agree that hot air balloons are super cool, and they’ve become an iconic sight each year in Canberra. This March, the Canberra Balloon Spectacular is back in town once again for one of the best and longest running ballooning events in the world. Come along to the picturesque Old Parliament House Lawns as over 50 balloons from all over the world launch early each morning and fill the skies with colour and wonder. And this year, the Spectacular will also include some super unique balloons, so expect some weird and wacky things taking to the heavens! Find out more

 

National Folk Festival

Location: Exhibition Park

If guitars, banjos, mandolins and great music are your thing, then you won’t want to miss the National Folk Festival this March. It’s become a bit of a staple in Canberra’s annual calendar, and this year definitely will not disappoint. With acts from all over Australia and the world gracing the stage with musical, dance, spoken word, circus and street performances, the festival has an absolutely packed program that’ll have you singing and dancing along for five days of good stuff.
